Does anyone have a plausible explanation for why she set up a personal server to conduct State Department business? The fact that she deleted and scrubbed thousands of emails before turning over her server to the FBI suggests a nefarious purpose, but are there any legitimate justifications for her actions?

Our government is rotten to the core. I think the tree of liberty is thirsty.

Yes....she was accepting money from people for the clinton foundation to get favorable decisions from her office......you can see that in the trail of donations to her husband for speeches and her decisions......not only that....they were putting down payments on decisions if she becomes President......

It is as simple as that.......

Of course there is a reason. She wanted to shield her emails from FOIA requests. It's that simple.

Because she wanted to hide information and in doing so she knowingly broke the law. Why did she want to hide information? Because the Clinton Foundation traded favors for $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

The security on the State IT system was very tight and made using it a burden. It also meant she would have had to carry two phones, one official and one unofficial. She opted to use a single unofficial system.

I honestly think she was just trying to get the job done and if she were a better politician she would have said that when the story broke instead of trying to cover her butt. She could learn much from Trump.

LOL you don't give her enough credit. She knew EXACTLY what she was doing.

She knew what she was doing and why, what she didn't know was the s-storm it would set off.

Oh , she knew what would happen if caught. She just thought she'd never get caught. Which is beyond stupid, didn't she think that at SOME point someone was going to say "Hey how come there is no emails to or from [email protected] for the archives, or whatever?

I don't agree and you can't know what she thought. She used the private email account fairly extensively and, if she learned anything in gov't, it that nothing stays secret forever.

True, BUT if you control the server, you can of course delete as you wish before handing anything over and thus ensure that certain things remain secret forever.
