Okay seriously,

"Although people were still deeply ambivalent about political parties, although one party did not necessarily recognize the legitimacy of the other, and although men on both sides were nostalgic- at one time or another- for the imaginary golden age of political harmony, few people could be found in the early 1790's who believed the parties did not exist. The parties had names: Federalist and Republican."-Susan Dunn,Jefferson's Second Revolution.

Liberalism (progressivism) wants to pull us further towards a welfare state with an ever-expanding web of social entitlements and more federal power and control over every aspect of our lives. Liberalism sees a nation of people incapable of solving their problems without the government’s help.

Conservatism believes a powerful federal government limits personal freedom. It seeks to stop the growing entitlement programs, encourage individual responsibility, and return Constitutionally mandated power to the states. Conservatism sees a nation of people capable of solving their own problems with minimal government help, as long as the people are free.

The Republican Party's platform is primarily Conservative and the Democratic Party's platform is primarily Liberal. This does not mean that every Republican is a conservative or that every Democrat is a liberal. However, if you watch the stands the parties take on issues, you will see that the Republican Party is more conservative and the Democratic Party is more liberal in their stands on issues and policies and the direction they want to take us.

If you are still unclear as to what the differences between the philosophies are consider this:

If either Party or philosophy held all 100 US Senators, all 435 Congressionmen and the President for 10 years, what would our nation be like if Conservatives held them compared to what would it be like if the Liberals held them?

I propose to you that we would have two entirely different nations.
It is truly a time for choosing. Which nation do you want?

Just a little FYI, sooner or later a mod is going to read this and my guess is they'll tell you to knock off the bet thing, because one, this isn't a gambling board, and two, gambling is illegal, and if you don't adhere to their suggestion to knock it off, you will get banned.

Just a friendly tip if you plan on sticking around.

Really? Well p-shaw... what part about the above is "biased?" Looks like the truth to me.

From day one a Republican has been someone opposed to the big liberal government of England and then opposed to those who would make our government bigger and bigger and more and more liberal with no end in sight short of monarchy or communism.

What the fuck is wrong with you ignorant people?

Conservatives were on the side of England. They support the monarchy just like they support being ruled by corporations.

Then in the 60's, conservatives fled the Democratic Party and took over the previously liberal Republican Party.

Why do you guys complain about education and then prove you have none? You're nuts!

More importantly, liberals never defend what they say whether they take the bets or not! Why not think about what that means rather than try to change the subject? Do you you think no one notices?

Do your parents know you're on the Internet and not in bed where you're supposed to be?

actually Jefferson was 100% opposed to monarchy and to big government in general. Welcome to your first lesson in American History.

The guy who can't figure out what a conservative in a Free Republic would be preserving is calling others uneducated. How ironic.

Ill conserve the US Constitution anyday. I don't want any part of your band of robbers.

OMG!! Thats perfectly stupid and perfectly liberal. There was one monarchy, but now there are 100's of thousands of corporations all competing against each other in a life and death battle to please us with the best products at the lowest prices.

Thats just like monarchy if you are absolutely brain dead and liberal. Now we can understand why the great liberals: Hitler Stalin and Mao had so much support. Many humans have no ability to think whatsoever.
