I found his analysis of the Democratic Party as being a political movement based on identity politics as particularly interesting. Those who are supporters of the Democratic Party should consider these thoughts as there is some relevance when you consider the activism with no solutions. If I were in the U.S I would probably be the type to bounce back and forth between party allegiances as long as that party was in line with my thinking. The current Democratic Party is absent of the endearing qualities they once possessed and this identity politics label might have some traction.

You could even go further and suggest that their most well known leaders and representatives are treating politics as simply a means to great wealth, not duty. Consider the amount of money both Clintons have received doing speeches and appearances. Now Obama and his book deals. How is anyone to really know what ones motivations for public office are when they achieve such great wealth via power?

To me it's no wonder Americans get behind a businessman. At least he was out there building and employing people. Not to mention he motivated Americans to do the same, go out and build a business, rather than go out and receive inflated speaker fees as your source of "accomplishment".
