My son in law is deployed and my daughter is sitting at home with two little boys and now the army bank has put a hold on their account, probably because of this GOP mess. They have plenty money there that they cannot touch. This is getting personal.

1. ObamaCare is the opposite of "socialized" medicine. EMTALA which is our current system is socialized medicine.

EMTALA is not socialized medicine. All EMTALA requires is that hospital ERs evaluate everyone who comes in. If it not an emergency no treatment is required.

In 1986, Congress enacted the Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA) to ensure public access to emergency services regardless of ability to pay. Section 1867 of the Social Security Act imposes specific obligations on Medicare-participating hospitals that offer emergency services to provide a medical screening examination (MSE) when a request is made for examination or treatment for an emergency medical condition (EMC), including active labor, regardless of an individual's ability to pay. Hospitals are then required to provide stabilizing treatment for patients with EMCs. If a hospital is unable to stabilize a patient within its capability, or if the patient requests, an appropriate transfer should be implemented.

There were so many people using the ER for convenience that ERs were turning away a lot of very sick people. This was intended to stop that practice and nothing more. If you take someone to the ER for a cold, you will be referred to a clinic. If it is pneumonia, they are required to treat.
