Punishing winds, possible tornadoes inflict damage as storms cross US South

ALBANY, Ga. (AP) — Damaging winds and possible tornadoes toppled trees, damaged buildings and blew cars off a highway Wednesday as powerful storms crossed the South from Texas to Georgia.

The National Weather Service issued numerous tornado warnings, mainly in southeast Alabama and southwest Georgia, and cautioned that gusts of hurricane-force winds exceeding 90 mph (145 kph) were possible in parts of northeast Louisiana and central Mississippi. Some areas also were pelted with large hail.

Forecasters said severe storm threats could persist into Thursday, with the greatest risk across southern Alabama and Georgia into the Florida Panhandle as well as Oklahoma and parts of northern Texas and southern Kansas.

Felecia Bowser, meteorologist in charge for the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, Florida, called the far-reaching inland storm system unprecedented for this time of year.

Cannot see much useful being discussed here about Weather but I would like to see a few of you look at Weather Engineering and Manipulation without resorting to the usual soppy kiddy jokes .
HAARP Alaska may be officially closed ( but it is not ) but be aware of other similar locations in Norway , Greenland and , perhaps most intriguing of all, imo , Antarctica .
Currently open to the same establishment general position of ridicule and misinformation , but so were UFOs and crash retrievals for most of the last seventy or more years .
Kick off with GeoengineeringWatch and then follow your nose if the simple initial material intrigues you .
imho

Thats a complete lie.
There has been way more rain in Florida in one day.
Here's a tip......it rains in Florida A LOT as in damn near every day in the afternoons during the summer.
The most rain in one day was 15.55 inches. This happened April 29th in 2014.
And yes this was in Pensacola.

Why lie about shit that can so easily checked?

I am just reporting what the nws posted. I also think they meant for a June daily record...Not highest rainfall for any day in recorded histroy.

The problem with weather, the media hype it up -
"The nation is gripped......"
"The rains rip through....."

And each new generation is spewing out more and more gullibles to this hype.

Tornadoes tear through west Texas town, killing 4 people and causing widespread damage

A line of severe storms produced what a meteorologist calls a rare combination of multiple tornadoes, hurricane-force winds and softball-sized hail in west Texas, killing at least four people and causing significant damage around the town of Matador, a meteorologist said Thursday.

A supercell developed about 8 p.m. Wednesday near Amarillo before striking the small town, said senior forecaster Matt Ziebell with the National Weather Service in Lubbock.

The storm later produced 109 mph (175 kph) winds at Jayton in addition to the 4-inch (10.2-centimeter) or larger hail, according to Ziebell.

“That is certainly rare to see all at the same time, killer tornadoes, hurricane-force winds and softball-sized hail,” Zeibell said.11 minutes ago

Tornado rips through massive Wyoming coal mining site, injures 8 people

Source: AP

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Wyo. (AP) — A tornado that ripped through the country’s largest coal mining site in northeast Wyoming left eight people injured and halted operations as first responders searched the massive open-pit site for employees and continued to assess the damage, officials said Saturday.

The tornado hit the North Antelope Rochelle Mine in Campbell County around 6 p.m. Friday during a shift change, initially complicating search and rescue efforts. But Peabody Energy, the operator of the mine with headquarters in St. Louis and South Brisbane, Australia, confirmed before midnight that all employees had been accounted for.

Six employees were still being treated in hospitals as of 11 p.m. Friday, the company said. No deaths were reported.

Melissa Smith, a meteorologist and hydrologist with the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, said a storm system scattered tornadoes throughout Campbell, Natrona and Johnson counties.

Numbers asshole. This isn't a discussion about climate change.
But the fact of the matter is that these events are becoming more costly.

It's ALL come true. Denial..not just a river in Egypt.

All I wanted to discuss was tornadoes.
more costly because more people live in those areas now and built businesses not because the weather has changed.
