"Annual merit increases" is what we call them. Basically, your job stays the same, but you get more money and you keep making more money.

In some cases, people are making 30, 50, and even 100k more than they were last year. Must be nice ...

How much of that has to do with the tax act is unknown, to be fair, but the number of raises and promotions seems to have dramatically increased ever since it was passed ... of course, it hasn't actually come into effect yet, so who knows?

Well, it is going to be interesting to see how the voting goes in November of this year and then in 2020. At this point, supply-side economics is winning and Obamanomics is losing big time and you can see the Dems losing blue collar votes in the states they used to win. Some of those losses were razor thin, but they're losing bigly at both the state and federal levels.
