The Dems have no one to blame for this, but themselves ... or the progressives among them

Why are we stupid. We voted Trump out and we don't like Biden's plan. I don't see any misuderstanding or irrationality.
A lot of folks here look at the world like that: If you don't agree with me, you're stupid. You have to join a team. It's the thought process of a child.

There are plenty of Americans who are not exactly thrilled with either guy, and that's perfectly reasonable. It's just honest. We are not required to join and tribe and bend over for it 24/7.

That's what got us into this mess in the first damn place.

I saw an article headlined "is Manchin the only dem who can read polls." Catchy maybe, but ... snarky and not really to the point. You know what was really unpopular about Obamacare? The mandate. And it was totally unnecessary. Even at the time people pointed out that Medicare has a "soft mandate" that people not only don't object but they don't even notice. If you don't signup for Medicare - and it doesn't cost anything for most of who worked our lives to sign up for Part A hospitalization - it will cost you if you try to sign up later.

And the Obamacare tax was so low, it really didn't pay for those folks who refused to purchase private coverage even with subsidies. It really just came down to the progressives NEEDING to tell people what to do.

This AM, I saw this article.

And it's right. The dems should be polling near 60%.
The poll revealed that when aspects of Biden’s plan are polled separately, they receive massive support. Nearly 88 percent of Americans approve of lowering the price of prescription drugs, which will save lives in a country where Joe Manchin’s daughter helped jack up the price of an Epipen. Seventy-three percent of Americans support paid family and medical leave in the only industrialized country that does not guarantee paid parental leave. Sixty-seven percent want universal preschool and kindergarten, in a nation that’s only seemed to care about children when they’re in the womb.

Only 54 percent of Americans approve of Biden’s plan, but when you just mention Medicare and family leave, that number jumps to 67 percent.

Health care is what helped Democrats take Congress in 2018. Republicans have offered zero plans except killing Obamacare and replacing it with Regeneron, “inshallah,” and death. Why not start with how the plan strengthens Medicare, lowers the price of prescription drugs, and allows for paid parental leave?

The article was written by a liberal (or I'll call him that since he writes for NYT Daily Beast Atlantic Guardian), and I don't hold that against him, personally. But he does seem to say those people (a MAJORITY btw) who don't like the direct transfer payments (send em cash and they'll love us) is the majority's fault for just not understanding. But perhaps it's becuase most Americans want govt to help us have CHOICES we can make to better our own lives, which incidentally is why so many people are trying to become Americans ... regardless of their faith skin tone or orientation.
Biden is out of touch with reality and he thinks he is the second coming of RFK. People will ignore his mandates. I do think his next step will be an effort to confiscate citizen's tax refund if they don't take the shot. BTW the shot makes people incubators for the Delta variant.

That he did. He was allowing US citizens to buy from overseas and have those much lower cost drugs delivered. Also the price of insulin went way down for those who are diabetic.
Bidung did away with all of that. He couldn't care less about America or Americans.

Hey I lived it. My costs did go up by 60%. I paid for it so I should know. I called HR to find out why the costs were going up and was told it was all because of Obamacare.

I can see why you can't handle the truth. You voted for an incompetent walking disaster. Congrats.

your response is both OT and false.

“I’m unrigging the system that is many decades old,” he declared, promising “massive” savings.

Consumers may not notice immediate changes, since the orders must be carried out by the federal bureaucracy and could face court challenges.

Democrats, meanwhile, are eager to draw a contrast between Trump and their own sweeping plans to authorize Medicare to negotiate lower prices with pharmaceutical companies, an idea the president had backed as a candidate. A bill by Speaker Nancy Pelosi already passed the House and aligns with presidential candidate Joe Biden's approach.

Friday's event was definitely not the bill-signing the White House had once hoped for. Trump came into office complaining that pharmaceutical companies were “getting away with murder” and promising to bring them under control. Nearly four years later, things are much the same despite some recent moderation in price increases.

Trump pulled his punches, Pelosi said in a statement. “After promising that he would ‘negotiate like crazy’ for lower prescription drug prices, it is clear that President Trump meant not negotiate at all,” she said, adding that if Trump is serious about lowering prices he should tell Senate Republicans to pass her bill.

A drive to enact major legislation this year stalled in Congress. Although Trump told Republican senators that lowering prescription prices is “something you have to do,” many remain reluctant to use federal authority to force drugmakers to charge less.

Meanwhile, congressional Democrats calculate that the election will strengthen their hand, and they'll finally be able to enact a law that authorizes Medicare to negotiate prices directly. Neither side in Congress has had an incentive to deal, and the White House has been unable to work Trump's will.

Last year the House did pass Pelosi's Medicare negotiations bill, which would have capped out-of-pocket drug costs for older people and expanded program benefits as well. It had no path forward in the Republican Senate, and the White House calls it unworkable.

But there was an alternative. A bipartisan Senate bill backed by Trump stopped short of giving Medicare bargaining power, but would have limited annual price increases and capped costs for older people. The bill passed out of a Senate committee but was never brought to the full body.

Under Obamacare my costs went up by 60%. As did anyone who had benefits.

The only people who liked Obamacare were the people the rest of us were paying for.

And because Obama's fascist care shit in the punch bowl, the prices of those with employer based plans also doubled or more in costs.

Obamacare was the biggest middle class tax increase in history.
