The constitution specifically mentions limits on government power, not policy or philosophical prescriptions. So you're right, it doesn't specifically mention capitalism, but the concepts enshrined in it are anti-thetical to socialism... which is why the socialists are consistently trying to subvert it.

So you're right, it doesn't specifically mention capitalism, but the concepts enshrined in it are anti-thetical to socialism... which is why the socialists are consistently trying to subvert it.

The Constitution certainly implies ownership and therefore capitalism to some degree. But it only implies it.

The preamble of the Constitution clearly states that one of the main purposes and responsibilties of the goverment is to provide for the 'General Welfare'. This gives the government broad responsibilties and powers to implement what many conservatives consider to be 'socialist'.

Of course the very existence of government is socialist by it's fundamental nature.

The conservative economist, Milton Freedman, considered the U.S. military to be socialist as he did just about every aspect of government.

In terms of true capitalism, government would have to be eliminated entirely, we should have private armies only (according to Freedmen), drugs should be legal.

Ultimate Capitalism is just a return to monarchy - becuase the wealthy would become the new emporers.

The Soviet Union was Communist long before the cold war started. In fact they were our allies during WWII.

The last thing on the minds of the Russian people during their communist revolution was any concern about the U.S.
