The Coming Reckoning Over the Electoral College

A bunch of states have signed on to the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. Trump will likely win the popular vote, giving him the entire West Coast (including Hawaii), plus Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Delaware, New York, and the bulk of New England's ECs. Even being super-generous and letting the Dems hold on to MN in the case of a Trump landslide, look at what the NPV compact could do to the map.

Then Trump should support the compact
Winning the popular vote would give him a landslide!
Why do you people hate the Constitution so much?
Winning > everything

Let us know when you amend the constitution
I already told you there's no need for that.
I already told you:
The NPVC will not survive CA IL and NY being forced to award their EVs to a Republican or an Article 1 Sec 10:3 challenge taken before the USSC.

So, we're back to:
Let us know when you amend the constitution

Are you stupid?

Conflicting Rulings on the Electoral College Could Throw the Next Election Into Chaos

In August, the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit held that the state of Colorado violated the Constitution in 2016 when it removed Micheal Baca, a presidential elector who acted “faithlessly” and voted for John Kasich over Hillary Clinton, who was chosen by the state’s voters. It followed a contrary ruling from the Washington state Supreme Court, which held that the state could fine electors $1,000 for being faithless. Now, Harvard Law professor Larry Lessig is planning to bring the Washington case to the United States Supreme Court—and in doing so, hopes to blow up the current Electoral College system.
The EC is obsolete and broken. Time for something else.

Actually, it is your authoritarian government system that is broken. We broke it, and we don't want to return to your fantasy land of a small wealthy elite lording it over the serfs.

Look, as soon as Dem's election scheming results in their losing an election they will run to the courts to overturn their own scheming.

Their argument:
"We created this compact to ensure the President would be elected by the will of the people, but the people didn't give us the result we want, so we want you to rule it unconstitutional".

You got rid of the real currency...you enacted a foreign owned fiat currency printer....you got rid of the federal senators to be elected by state legislatures...now you want to get rid of the electoral college....Get rid of all of the checks and balances you fools. Wars on our territory are going to be a mutha ph uka!
Local Communities can coin their own currency, and States are free to issue gold or silver currency if they wish, folks use the greenback because it works fine, if it didn't, there are alternatives.

States Legislatures could not give up the responsibility for selecting US Senators fast enough. They had so much difficulty, that states often went extended periods of time without a Senator because State Legislatures could not get a majority vote for ANYONE. So returning to that system that proved unworkable, makes little sense, but, a Constitutional Amendment that allows the State Legislature to recall their Senator for any reason would restore The State House that the State Legislatures have been without since start of the "progressive" movement.

The NPVC, should it ever go into effect, will not survive the first election where CA, IL and NY are forced to give their EVs to a Republican.
I would expect that if the election starts looking like a blowout, you'll see an awful lot of blue state assemblies scrambling to see who can pull out of the compact the fastest. Failing that, some well-financed moderate Dem or NeverTrumper might just jump in, in an effort to deny Trump a popular majority.
As we know, the Democrats will do anything and everything to win, so...
So what? They still seem to lose with some regularity.

Well you answered that. We could not realistically go back to gold and silver. But we could use a fiat currency owned by the people and not foreigners. To many Senators spend 40 years in office. They even deny the damage they have done.

Trump, being a very stable genius with an usually large brain doesn't need a gimmick like that to win, so he pays no attention to such things.

The Compact is Unconstitutional and when it comes to SCOTUS it will be easily overturned. The Washington case where a faithless elector can be fined, will be upheld, because it follows precedent and The US Constitution.

It is designed to prevent a fringe regional candidate from taking a national election by running up the popular vote in the coastal strips. In 2016 it worked perfectly.
