Trump even communicated this to both of them publicly that he was willing to drop any potential investigations in to either of them. That's where is stands. If the government thinks a law has been broken, they'd follow the standard protocol, I'd think.

There isn't must TRUMP can do when you consider this is nothing new coming out. Republicans in congress with the exception of a few were unwilling to do anything when this came out months ago. Republicans in congress should have be united in calling for Rosentstein to resign or in the very least recuse himself from oversight of the Mueller investigation.
