The 1973 Chrysler New Yorker and its 440V8

I'm glad my grandmother was over big cars with big engines in by 73. In 1968 after retiring from teaching, and drawing pensions from 3 states, she traded her little blue Ford Falcon for a 1968 Pontiac Le Mans with the 350 4-barrel, green with black vinyl top, black on black bucket seat interior, all the bells and whistles of the day, because she like the way it looked on the showroom floor. She was about 68 herself, totally blind in one eye. It was scary as hell to ride with her. She finally lost it in curve on wet road, putting it in the ditch pretty hard. She was fine, the car not so much. Hers looked like this before she customized it in the ditch:

She went back to little sqaure sh#tbox cars and lived to a ripe old age.

Gee, my current car has more H.P. and about half the bulk and weight, yet still comfortably seats five!

Yeah, but can you have a picnic in the front seat, make up a bed in the back seat AND stretch out on, or have some violent lunatic speed thru a red light and Tbone you.....and only get a small scratch on your car?
