Texas sheriff refuses to help feds guard migrant children tent city, saying 'it's wrong'

The 16 million men and women in the services included over 1 million African Americans, along with 33,000+ Japanese-Americans,[1] 20,000+ Chinese Americans,[2] 25,000 American Indians,[3] and 16,000 Filipino-Americans. About 65,034 Puerto Ricans[4] served as well as about 500,000 Mexican-Americans[5] (both white and mestizo) and smaller numbers of other Hispanics. Group totals for European ethnic groups were not tabulated. They were released from service in 1945-46 on equal terms, and were eligible for the GI Bill and other veterans benefits on a basis of equality. Many veterans, having learned organizational skills, and become more alert to the nationwide situation of their group, became active in civil rights activities after the war.[6]

The exact number of Hispanics serving in the US military is unknown as, at the time, Hispanics were not tabulated separately, but were generally included in the general white population census count. President Roosevelt had personally demanded all Mexican-Americans be classified as white as part of his "Good Neighbor" policy with US-friendly Latin American nations[11] while most Puerto Ricans had always been considered legally white since the island was annexed on part of its population being of majority-European descent (the average Puerto Rican being 66% European, 18% Native American, and 16% West African).[12] While the military did not document the numbers of Hispanic servicemen and servicewomen, the US Census did note that less than 2% of the general population was of Hispanic origin;[13] if true this would mean Hispanic-Americans were overrepresented in the armed forces.

Its El Paso. There is a reason Democrats win the border areas where loyalty to the US isnt high.
Republicans have shown time and time again that they are not loyal to the United States and our Constitution. Stop covering up.

BS

Republicans stopped being loyal Americans quite a while back. It's wonderful to see a sheriff in the southwest stand up for moral principles for a change. In lousy Texas, too! Kudos to him!

Yeah, moral principle by refusing to protect innocent children. :cuckoo:

You can't make this stuff up! :auiqs.jpg:
Of course you can..after all..you do all the time, right?

The shelter doesn’t even have kids separated from any families. They came across the border unaccompanied.

Grand stand much?

From the article: The camp was housing migrant children who entered the country unaccompanied but expected to receive children who were forcibly separated from their families, Wiles said in an interview with The Washington Post.

Maybe you should read it first before accusing others of grandstanding.

Expected to, which means they haven’t yet. Guess the kids there now don’t deserve to be protected.

Slowly…people are starting to wake up

Funny they weren't awake back in 2014??

None of them not even the Dems who are protesting today. Wonder where they all were back in 2014???

Obama was raking it in hand over fist from selling the kids to traffickers
See what I mean? Another right wing piece of slime spreading his conspiracy nastiness.

So many right wingers are this filthy, it seems they be the majority.

Especially that it's true, right?

Snopes said so

They didn't ask for help until they were adding the children forceably seperated did they?

These illegal aliens are other countries problems not ours. They should let the little fuckers rot in Mexico and their deadbeat parents

"Expected to" was exactly what the Sheriff stated in his reason for refusing to help.

Not that you'd care - you probably just want to make sure they don't escape. They're vermin in your eyes.

"I told them absolutely not. I think it's wrong," Wiles said of the Trump administration's "zero-tolerance" policy that resulted in the forced separations of families. "It's not consistent with the values of the sheriff's office."

It’s not consistent with the values of the American people.
