NEWARK, Del. — An unexpected win by a Tea Party candidate here has given Democrats hope of winning a seat that Republicans were once confident they could count in their column.
No, not the Senate seat Christine O’Donnell is running for (though they look set to win that, too), but the state’s sole seat in the House of Representatives — which, unlike the Senate seat, has long been held by a Republican.

It is turning out to be a hard slog for the Republican businessman, Glen Urquhart, who is running against John Carney, the Democratic lieutenant governor.

One reason is simple math. About two-thirds of registered voters in Delaware are Democrats. New Castle County, where more than half the population lives, is heavily Democratic. The Republican who has held the seat for years, Michael N. Castle, kept it by appealing to moderate Democrats and independents, something Mr. Urquhart, a former Reagan administration appointee favored by conservatives, does not seem to be doing.

The conservative media think they are winning seats by T-Party holders, and count them in their polls. Boy are they in for a big surprise as they lose more seats than Dem's. The T-Party has effectively splintered the splintered Republicans!!! So as Republicans slide down the banister of life, this coming election will go down as a splinter in their ass!!!:lol:

If Castle can't or won't get any Republicans elected, then he's not a Republican, and it's his fault, and his fault alone.

It's the folly of little children to blame their fuckups on someone else.
The Tea Party forcing the Republican candidate to the right instead of a more moderate position in a state like Delaware where the majority of voters are Democrats is most definitely a bad idea.

The last thing this nation needs is more so called "moderates". We need someone with a scrotum, or a severely pissed off woman to kick some friggin Federal ass in DC.

Reform, actual reform for once in a century.

Thank you for your service, and good bye/good riddance sir/madam. Next!

This is the government our founders were worried about, and it is here. Time to show it the door, and get back to the people's government again.

Can one of you TEA PARTY theorists explain to me exactly how the TP candidates positions differ from the GOP's positions?

I confess that their positions on the various issues facing this nation seem identical to me.

Book mark this quote and remember to laugh your butt off November 3!

Tea party has done a much better job than I thought they would, and with the ex slut witch it's been very entertaining too.
Are they yet another passing fad, we'll see what they do when the 40 of them get in office.

The GOP are no different than Democrats, and why the Party is undergoing a massive overhaul. We need at least a two Party system, not a one Party system which includes Democrat-like Republicans. RINOs, need to be weeded out.

Anyone who asks for a balanced budget instead of a massively reduced budget is no friend of the American people. The US government has become the largest corrupt corporation in mankind's history.

If you don't see a need for MASSIVE government reform from your town hall to DC, then don't bother voting.

Yea...Titanic is right

The GOP is no different than the Democrats

Thats why they vote against every Democrat proposal

Since the citizens of Del nominated O'Donnell and Coombs it will be up to them to decide who they want to represent them.

Nov 2 will tell the tale.

Why? Their candidate will not win in Delaware. He's too extreme. The point of this thread is Delaware. The Tea Party delivered an extreme candidate to a moderate state, and they're going to blame the moderate Republican...

That's kind of like eating some cake, drinking some engine oil, throwing up, then blaming the cake.

Getting rid of Castle was the victory for the Tea Party. One less RINO to deal with.

Hell's bells, Castle called Biden and Obama after his loss to O'Donnell.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. I wish that Democrats would clean house too instead of keeping all their old tired mummified Washington insiders.

It's time Washington had an enema. Heavens, it's like the country is being ruled by crazy old grandmas and grandpas and "pull my finger" is code word for higher taxes.

And I for one am thrilled the Tea Party is giving that much needed enema to that constipated arrogant crew on Capitol Hill.

:happy-1:

Castle was a dependable vote for Democrats. His seat in the Senate would have meant nothing for Republicans.

We have a two party system. We will never have a viable system in which there are more than two major parties. Our "winner takes all" system basically guarantees that. If this were a parliamentarian system, it would be different. It is not. Basic Comparative Political Science 101.

If a group's views are not represented in either of the two major parties, that simply means the views aren't popular enough (yet) to be part of the platform.

This is what happens in CA all the time....Republicans, when they are moderate, like Arnold, win seats and elections....when they are hard core conservative, they usually lose.

Nope, I didn't see it. Perhaps we can cut to the chase and you can just tell me what your point is?
