She doesn't exactly state that but it does sound that way. In the end, the amount of taxes we pay is determined by the citizens who elect representatives to make that decision. It's not some arbitrary number that the gods determine.

Taxes may very well be a necessary evil. The FORM it takes doesn't have to be this confiscatory income tax system. The amount taken does not have to be so unreasonable, either.

It is theoretically possible, in fact, for a government to spend modestly and within its means.

All that said, it is still true that the sophistry of claiming that "Taxes MEANS Freedom" is silly on its face.
