There are many men here who worked in construction and who were replaced by Mexicans working at lower wages, like drywall workers. I can't imagine the construction workers here doing what the Turks have done to these Syrians.

Fifteen cars with Syrian license plates were attacked by unidentified people in Turkey's southern province of Kilis, while porters wielding clubs chased some Syrians in Şanlıurfa for apparently undercutting their wages.

According to private Doğan news agency, unidentified people in the Nacaroğlu and Tekye districts of Kilis attacked cars with Syrian license plates that were parked in the districts. Police officers were dispatched to the area and an investigation of the incident was launched. Measures have been taken across the city against further outbursts of anger directed at Syrians.

In a separate incident on Saturday, a group of porters who work in Şanlıurfa's wholesale market reportedly chased some Syrians. Doğan reported that the incident took place in the wholesale market in the Paşabağı district. Discussions between Turkish and Syrian porters on wages escalated into fighting and a group of porters allegedly chased the Syrians, armed with clubs. The local porters claim that the Syrians are willing to work for a lower wage and depriving them of employment. After police intervened, the tension in the market eased.

The refugee are straining the economy and the patience of the neighboring nations. Most of the areas were already strained by the palestinian refugee population, then iraqis during the war and now syrian.
