I don't think I've ever come close to doing something like this.

The primary reason is that I don't see making the threat unless I was willing to throw a punch (something I've never done as an adult).

And I would not want to.

Knocking someone out or giving them a bloody nose might be instantaneously gratifying, but what if you seriously hurt them or worse......of course the price would be to high.

McCarthy knows this (or should). I don't know that we are afraid of getting hurt as much as we are afraid of really doing damage well beyond some hurt pride.
