Effete New York Times Asks: 'Is It Immoral to Watch the Super Bowl?'

The New York Times has a very strange sense of morality. Abortion at any time for any reason is never savage. When the Kermit Gosnell case erupted, the Times could only editorialize it was irrelevant: “What does the trial of a Philadelphia doctor who is accused of performing illegal late-term abortions by inducing labor and then killing viable fetuses have to do with the debate over legal abortion?”

But on Sunday, the Times Magazine published a column titled “Is It Immoral to Watch the Super Bowl?” Writer Steve Almond, best known previously for resigning an adjunct professorship at Boston College because Condoleezza Rice was picked for commencement speaker, argued that sending men to the NFL was like sending our underclass soldiers off to war in Afghanistan (don't miss the part about the late Pat Tillman):

Immoral to watch the NFL and the Super Bowl?
No.

'Sending men to the NFL'? isn't playing NFL voluntary?

Watching the Super Bowl isn't immoral. Rooting for the Broncos on the other hand... :eusa_whistle:

no, it is not immoral.

It's boring.

Maybe you could try 'NRL'...or in America the 'AMNRL'

http://www.amnrl.com/

Much the same as NFL, with no helmets etc, the ball has to always be passed backwards, and when tackled there is no stoppage...the tackled player rises to his feet, plays the ball back with his feet and the game continues.

NRL downunder 2013 Grand Final ['Super Bowl'] highlights.
Note "The Black Superman's" touchdown at the end to seal the match.

American NRL [National Rugby League] team, Unites States Tomahawks, at the World Cup in Britain in 2013;

USA did well for a new nation playing the game, beat Wales etc.

No.

Huh? I thought this thread would pose the question of playing on Sunday as immoral. Apparently that isn't even an issue.

Enjoy it while you can.

The nanny-state loving liberals are doing their best to have football banned - but only for your own good. Hey, sugary drinks harm you; tobacco harms you; concussions harm you and they know best what few things you may be allowed to do in order that you be protected from your miserable self.

Back to the NFL.

Multi million dollar contracts for the players...the players are clamouring to sign up.
It's nothing like having a military draft and sending men to war.

Knee injuries worry NFL players more than concussions

NEW YORK — NFL players worry about head injuries and their potential long-term consequences but not nearly as much as they worry about injuries to their legs, particularly their knees, that can end careers.

USA TODAY Sports surveyed 293 players on 20 NFL teams and asked what body part they were most concerned about injuring in a game: 46% said knees or other parts of their legs, 24% said head and neck and 26% said none.

The poll of players on active rosters was conducted from mid-December to early January and has a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points. If requested, players were granted anonymity because they were concerned about fallout to their vote going public.

The results seem surprising given all of the emphasis the NFL and the culture at large have given to the life-altering dangers of concussions in recent years.

"Anytime you can avoid hits to the head it's great," Chicago Bears running back Michael Bush said, "but if you get hit in your knees, that's your career."

Nope.....................the Super Bowl isn't immoral.

However...............like someone further up the thread stated, rooting for Denver IS.

Go Seahawks!

This simply illustrats that liberals are morally bankrupt and have no idea what the world is like outside their theories of how it is supposed to be.

If you don't conform to their ideas you're immoral.

not supporting abortion is immoral
Routing for men that earned their spots on a team is immoral b/c not everyone had a chance to play and the last place team doesn't get a trophy for doing their best.
