Stalin bust has Virginia town red-faced - Washington Times
Stalin did have something to do with D Day, he pushed the US and Britain to invade France. The guy in the article should take a history class.
stalin also kind of kept ze germans busy on the other front.
One of the reasons D Day happened, was to draw German troops away from the Soviets.
This protest is stupid, and it is a prime example of some people trying to censor history.
No what is stupid is claiming we needed the Soviets to A) push us to invade and B) that we needed them to actually invade.
Learn some history your self. Stalin wanted the invasion in 42 and then in 43 and we rightly refused as we were not ready. 44 was OUR time line not Stalin's. Stalin had NOTHING to do with D-Day. Now if this were a celebration or monument to the Whole War then yes he had a place but not at a D-Day memorial.
The US originally planned to field 200 Divisions. The war in the East let us scale that back to 100 and not effect our production base. But even with out the Soviets we could have fielded those 200 Divisions and invaded Europe with out the Soviets. It would have taken longer and we would have had a harder fight but we still would have won. While the bombing campaign did not win the war it shortened it and we still would have beaten the Germans with or with out the Soviet Union.
Once again D-Day has NOTHING at all to do with the Soviet Union.
Where did I state the Soviet invaded France? You are the one who needs to learn history.
Stalin pushed for the US and Britain to invade France, and we did it when we were ready. The whole point of D Day was to distract Germany, so the Soviets would not be feeling all the pressure.
And PS I never said we needed their help to invade, learn how to read.
Send it to Russia. After all if Obama couldn't stand to have an ally like Churchill's bust in the W.H. then we should send all busts of foreign people back to their homelands.
Congradulations, you posted the first partisan post in the thread.
Nothing Partisan about it.
I was merely commenting on the attitude of our current administration. You know the one staffed with people who respect Chairman Mao as a political philosopher and send back gifts given by countries who are supposed to be our allies.
In fact maybe we should send the Stalin bust to Obama. He can put where Winston's used to be.
