so it was the elk and deer that caused the disappearance of certain plants

Well, if you really want to get technical, it was man killing off all the wolves that caused the imbalance.

Nature's great at achieving balance and harmony. Oddly enough, if humans get involved we only disrupt that harmony despite being part of Nature. Humans are more like an 'introduced species' throwing everything out of whack. Like rabbits in Australia or cane toads. But our infestation is global. Maybe some asteroid did bring us from Mars or elsewhere. Would explain why we only mess everything up :)

the Rabbit-Proof Fence was a good movie
