Deserae Morin, a Republican running for a seat in the Vermont House of Representatives, allegedly received an ominous death and rape threat letter from someone claiming to be a socialist... “I’ve received my first official death threat, also rape threat,” Morin wrote via Facebook on Saturday along with a picture of an envelope and its contents. “And a threat to all Vermont Republicans. My entire platform consists of protecting individual liberty, ensuring small government, reducing taxes, increasing personal choices and a deep commitment to the Constitution… Apparently these are things that make the Socialists want to kill me… How telling.” The letter, pieced together in block letters, read:

C**t,
We are hunting you. My comrades will kill you and the Constitution. First we will rape you for days. You will scream and know that agonizing horror. No equal rights for Republicans. Socialism is here. Open season for Republican death in Vermont.
Fear our revolution. It’s time.​

Morin believes the perpetrator was a local because her own campaign materials were used on the envelope.
“That’s the part that bothers me the most,” she wrote. “That’s the main reason why I am taking this so seriously and working with the police and the post office. It feels very real and menacing when you know the threat is so close.”

Christine Hallquist is a F'n political disgrace & not for any transgender related reasons. The only signage out on lawns are a smattering of homes in the Chitenden County area (Burlington area) mostly. South & central VT they are mostly non existent with GOP Stern doubling her. The North East Kingdom probably doesn't know she exists in most cases. It's not actually a gubernatorial showdown in any sense of the word. Phil Scott could 'shoot someone on 5th ave.
