The Philadelphia district attorney, for instance, has in effect decriminalized thefts of up to $500. Boston’s district attorney actually campaigned, before her election last year, with a list of crimes her office would not prosecute — including drug distribution, “larceny under $250,” receiving stolen property, trespassing, malicious destruction of property and resisting arrest.

In San Francisco, the new DA has vowed not to prosecute “quality of life” crimes such as public urination and prostitution. And the new DA in Fairfax County said during his campaign that he wouldn’t prosecute as a felony any larceny below $1,500 (ignoring the state threshold of $500), would not seek cash bail for felonies and would charge unlawful immigrants more leniently than U.S. citizens for the same crimes in order to circumvent the immigration consequences of the crimes.

The above is an opinion piece written by Jeffrey Rosen the deputy attorney general of the US. It was an intext link in something else I was reading. I'm not a fan of WaPo and don't usually read them unless it's absolutely necessary.

Here is the thing, what is listed above is the wrong way to go. There will be a backlash if reason does not prevail and we will go backward not forward. This is not how it's done. At some point people have to stop focusing on how much they hate/love Trump and start focusing on the real world.

You stock your shelves and open the door to your new business, hoping to recoup what you've spent on your inventory plus a few bucks.
How many Democrat ordained thieves would it take to put you out of business in just one day @ $1,500 worth of your inventory per thief.
10 thieves in a day? 20? And you are done....

Philadelphia's State and Local taxes are going to take off like a rocket in 32 days anyway because of the SALT deduction cap and this idiot doesn't realize this predictable problem could get him sent to jail?

America abandoned reason long ago for endless anxiety, conflict/competition and a self-messianic belief system vomiting up a collective insanity suggesting endless violence is spiritual purification.

They won't change, not even a bit, because of the cap.

It is mind blowing. We are in a social contract and it is not that the state is unable to protect the people but unwilling to protect the people.
