I have plenty of Dem friends. Now if you're not actually looking for debate rebuttals etc...(I got that feeling after you bailed from your last thread), then perhaps we might discuss this.
I would first ask you to define socialism, as - especialy on the net - there seems to be a wide range of definitions. Would this be what your are referring to?:
An economic system in which the means of production are publicly or commonly owned. Characteristics of a socialist economy include the complete elimination of privately owned enterprises.
If so, I can assure you that neither of us will find a socialist on this board and very few in America. If this is not what you are referring to, please clarify. Depending on your definition, you may actually be correct.
I don't think we need complete control of enterprises, only those that are defined as National Security enterprises. These in "part" are energy, oil, electricity, air, water, military, communications, transportation, housing, worker right & benefits and the banking system come to mind.
I don't mind if private enterprises work around the fringes of these core NS systems in a competitive capitalist manner.
