Most Americans want the government to help them get through life. The government grew to its present size in response to popular demand.

Local government provides needed services like police, courts, garbage collection, schools, etc.

Some useful things are even done at the State level like highway construction, management of parks and courts.

We don't need a Federal government to do much more than provide for a national defense, protect the border, have a state department, a patent office and maybe a few other minor things.

We certainly don't need any level of government to provide welfare, grants, subsidies, entitlements, bailouts and a couple of dozen worthless cabinet positions that cost billions and produces nothing of value but runs up the national debt.

Under no circumstances like a war the government should never spend more than it takes in and we should always keep taxes low so that Americans can keep the money they earned.

We are $33 trillion in debt because there is no incentive for anybody in government to be fiscally responsible. All of the Democrats and most of the Republicans don't give a shit about spending money and that is why we are screwed.
