The government has borrowed $18 trillion they can't pay back, maybe they need to shut down if that's what it takes to make the difficult decisions.

Yes. I don't think that is enough to unseat Speaker Boehner. What good would come from a shutdown over abortion. In a general election cycle at that. That means the narrative is all about abortion. That means more Donald Trump talking about women (actually a good thing since he so bad at it). Republicans lose when the election focuses on lady parts.

Depends if he (Boehner) is willing slide on up to Minority Leader Pelosi and she will expect in return for her cooperation.

But we need to remember Boehner has been on very thin ice for a while now. He has had several votes blow up in his face. Also, his Speakership is based on a small majority. TeaHadists are not very happy St. John of Orange and if he does go to the Dems for support it could very well spell the end of his time in the Speaker's Chair.

Abortion is a big issue with most, if not the actual act then the funding from taxpayer dollar is an issue.
with obamacare now, there is no reason to fund any clinic, PP or other, the women can now take their obamacare card and go anywhere for their care. Isn't that what we were told?
Considering that why don't they go ahead and leave PP out of the budget bill right now, shift an equal amount of funds over to discretionary spending then bring the PP bill up on its own merits and use that money put aside to fund it if it goes that way.
Why let a toxic issue like abortion funding kill the entire budget bill ?
Now, if a bill goes in front of obama that is complete and as balanced as possible but excludes funding for PP, and because of that obama vetoes the bill and the government shuts down. Who's fault is it? those that presented a complete bill, or the democrat president because he is acting like a child that didn't get his way.

I am not entirely sure how the dems manage it but they always manage to shift the blame for something like that to the right no matter who is actually at fault for it.

What they should do is their jobs. They are charged with passing a budget. They should strip all funding for Planned parenthood from the budget they pass and forward it to Obama. They will have done their jobs. If Obama vetoes the budget passed by the peoples' representatives in Congress, then the shutdown will be on Obama's hands - not on the Congress.
