Should We Force Porn Actors To Wear Condoms By Law?

Maybe, you should mind your own business. This is a free country, and I'll do what I want, in my own time, by myself. End of story. I said that above comment as kind of a joke. I don't actually buy porn, usually. I can't spend money on it, and even if I could, I wouldn't want to, because I often feel pathetic and lousy about it, but I can't help it if I don't have a girlfriend. I usually just go to free sites on the internet. The point is, The sexual outlet has to be there, or else people would go insane. If you ask me, I think porn provides a great service. Without it, people would probably go crazy, and there would be more rapes and violent crimes, because you can't repress sexuality as you have seen. If people can't at least live their sexual fantasies vicariously through porn-stars or any kind of porn, bad things start happening. Sexual repression on any level builds, as we have seen.

If anything, it speaks to the lack of social skills I have, to not be able to get a girlfriend, and actually have sex with someone real, which would eliminate the need for porn. Further, masturbation is one of the funnest things to do in my free time, sadly. I'm not happy about, as it is not a very enlightened lifestyle. You are right about many things, but You are being way too idealistic and, I hate to be insulting, but naive about this. I agree that many people need money out there, way more than do rich porn execs. But, this is one of the drawbacks of living in a free, capitalistic society where consumers are truly free to put their money where they want to: people get money who don't really need it. That's just the way it is. Accept it and stop trying to control others.

This is the United States of America. I am not going to stay silent when I have a right and obligation to speak against evil in this world.

You shouldn't sell yourself short. You have a lot more power to make choices in your life than you realize. It's not easy, but then when is anything good in life easy?

How about instead of looking at the porn, you address the real issues. You admit that you struggle with the social skills. I know how that is. I was horribly shy when i was in high school and college. You don't learn the skills if you spend time being intimate with videos or pictures or even books in order to satisfy physical desires.

This isn't about controlling people. It's about encouraging people to control themselves rather than be controlled by their passions. Why, with all the economic problems we have, would you want to spend time and money with things that offer nothing of lasting value? Why would you want to fill your heart and head with ideas about relationships that are false? How will that help you meet people?

Maybe everyone wont do it. But how can we fix problems just by saying everyone is going to do it or that we can't live without it? We may not be able to change the world, but we can change ourselves. We can make choices that better our lives instead of being in bondage to our feelings and emotions.

We need to start changing ourselves in a positive way. We can take responsibility for our lives now or pretend that the day of reckoning will never come. But it always does. and when it does the world is going to need people who are prepared for what is to come.

Two of the porn industry's biggest companies have stopped production following the news that an actor has tested positive for HIV. Yesterday's revelation sent the industry—which eschews the use of condoms on porn sets—into a tizzy, as it attempts to track down the people who may have worked with the actor, whose name and gender have not been released, reports the AP.

Porn Star Tests Positive for HIV - Adult entertainment industry reels after hearing the news

What say you? Do we need a new law requiring condoms for porn stars?

No to more laws trying to save or force a business into change. The industry will take care of itself. This new threat may make someone think twice before becoming a player in it. "Nature makes no mistakes."

yeah, we are still a free Country, and if they don't or won't PROTECT themselves, than yeah, they have a "right to die of a STI. good grief.

Ain't it a public health hazard for porn actors to portray sex acts without condoms for audiences of (presumably) impressionable young adults?

Oh for crying out loud, what do you think a PARENT is for.
Making sure the kids go to their State-run daycare?

Excellent discussion, folks. Thankies!

Avatar, if you want to debate outlawing porn you can have the thread now. I will give you my two cents on the subject....

I would be happy to classify violent porn (snuff films, etc.) the same way we do child porn, and subject producers and viewers to the same penalties.

Ordinary hard core midget donkey whipped cream hammock foodie Alpine porn, meh, I dun care.

My own heart lies with Zaltman King. Whatever you decide to do, leave me my Zaltman King. The man's a genius.

Before every porn they have to run a PSA about safe sex.

Good thing we have liberals teaching our kids about safe sex. :D

If that's your way of teaching kids, then i dont want you anywhere near mine.

Not what I meant.;)
She was complaining about it sending the wrong message, I pointed out they run PSA's before every movie, most likely due to a liberal. Liberals are also the reasons why sex ed is taught in schools, so our kids know enough to use condoms.
But please show where I suggested that is how we should teach our kids. Teenagers watch porn, and there is nothing you are going to do about it, teenagers also read porno magazines. Good thing we have liberals, to make sure they have warning messages about safe sex in them.

Maybe there should be a mandatory STD test before someone can be hired for a pornographic production. But HIV/ AIDS tests are notoriously long.

No, it is their choice.

A. People do not have the right to choose to acquire deadly diseases.

Cigarettes are legal
B. People do not have the right to teach others how to acquire deadly diseases.

I don't have a right to have someone guide me on a tour through the everglades?

I think many of them already do test their actors, probably the more established ones.

Perhaps not a LAW, per se,

but it would be nice if the industry set a REQUIREMENT,

in order to protect it's personnel.

i.e. There's no LAW that cops HAVE to wear bullet-proof vests, but they're PROVIDED and ENCOURAGED.

Same with construction workers wearing hard hats on site!
