Zone1 Should there be limits on what people make in the United States? Some people say yes.

Nope ~ why would anyone continue to operate a business, if they aren't allowed to always prosper from it?

What is to keep them from topping out and then quitting? Closing their doors/businesses? Who BTW keeps the rest of us working.

These rich people are the people who keep, the not so rich people working, and they are what keeps the world going around. LOL

You shouldn't punish someone for being successful ~
oh yeah.. not!
"the rich are to be admired, you know" -> such bs.

pknopp do you believe that because someone got rich, that means someone went poor? Trying to decipher your brain logic out on taxation, getting off your backside, fucking work etc..

Yes, I've explained it many times. Because you replied nicely, I will reply again.

We pumped trillions into the markets. This made some people very, very, very rich. It also is the main (the main but not only) cause of inflation.

How Does Money Supply Affect Inflation?.

Along with inflation came higher costs of everything including rents. It got to the point people couldn't make rent.

.

Homelessness does not make for good times for people to rise above poverty.

I'm not interested in your economic theories.

Why shouldn't those who benefitted the most from the debt and pumping pay the most to address the debt?

Let me put it another way. In the West, under capitalism, you have equality of opportunity. You are correct, homeless does not make for good times. Some charities and governments provide accommodation to get the homeless back into work by providing an address, a roof over their head.

Those who are considered 'Left Wing' want equality of outcome. Unfortunately, that's Utopian in thought and why Socialism collapses because everyone suffers the misery. It's not a theory, it's reality.

And amongst all this, you get to choose where to spend your money. Choose a local farm for your veg, or use Walmart. Go to your local independent shop, or use Amazon. And the fact of the matter is, the majority of the time, I bet you use Walmart and Amazon etc..

I don't believe in income tax, I believe in indirect taxes. For arguement sakes, I'm a billionaire, you're not. Take sales tax. You buy a car for £20,000, I buy a car £500,000. The vat (sales tax) is 20% in the UK. You paid say £3,300 in vat, I paid £83,000. Then the stamp duty on my house was many thousands, plus on the yacht I bought etc.. Why do you want to take more off me in tax when I've paid hundreds of thousands, if not millions in tax, and you haven't?

The limits on earnings should only be limited by a Market that is free of government influence.

Simply not true. Everyone does NOT have equality of opportunity. I explained why. You can address it or not.

One person has the opportunity to greatly increase their wealth through the pumping of the markets but many others do not.

Why shouldnt all more equally benefit from the pumping of the economy?

Address what I've said or ramble.

Because you have far more benefitted from all the "free" money.

Everyone has equality of opportunity. You tell me which law prevents which group that they don't have the opportunity to increase their wealth, to work, to work harder, to set up a business?

Ignore my argument as most do.

True.

"Law"? There is no law that requires the provision of employment. That means that it is lawful for segments of the population to become marginalized and destitute. In fact, the law actually facilitates the increase in poverty. So, I'm not sure what you mean by "a law which prevents" employment. Neglecting the population is the same as encouraging its impoverishment.

Just tell me which law, that's all you need to do, and if everyone is ignoring your arguement, it's your arguement that's the problem.

No clue what you are rambling about concerning a law. I've stated my argument many times.

The Fed pumps trillions and a small percent gets the vast majority of benefit from this while those down the ladder actually are harmed.

That has routinely been ignored. Those are the facts.

The purpose of the thread is - Should there be limits on what people make in the United States?

My arguement is no.

Why should we be providing "free" money to millionaires to become multi-millionaires? Even billionaires?
