The real reason for the Federal inheritance tax is simply for revenue. It is like the sin taxes -- alcohol excise tax and tobacco excise tax etc.

Well W. got rid of it for a while. Now it is back again. The sunset on the repeal expired.
As for getting rid of it permanently, the only people benefited by this repeal would be rich kids born with silver spoons in their mouths who are normally just parasites upon society.
At any rate the first $5 million is already tax free, and the rest is not taxes beyond 40%.
That's still plenty of money to live like a king without ever doing anything at all.

But they should work and they should be productive.
