I guess we came closest in the history of the United States to Martial Law during the four term reign of FDR. Under the FDR administration the 5th Amendment to the Constitution was set aside when he incarcerated American citizens without due process. He got away with it because the 1st Amendment was also trashed when the media became the propaganda arm of the administration and anyone who dared speak out against the federal government received a visit from Hoover's G-men. Trump should immediately gather the joint chiefs of staff to a meeting and lay out the case for declaring martial law......whilst there has been no significant violence to speak of yet...if President Trump waits until violence starts and the likliehood it could or would spread quickly he should act before things go that far...to avoid bloodshed and protect our National Security Trump must act immediately.
