Should Obama nominate a justice or not?

when entering (or not entering) the booth? I bet it was less than 10% and I'd even say it never crossed the minds of most people at all.

The real question is if roles were reversed would Democrats wait for the election? Of course they would and we both know that to be true. It's how politics is played.

Actually many of us were thinking of the SC back in 2012 because both Ginsburg and Breyer have long been in not the best of health......

But, beside of how "politics is played" there is the element of circumstance that comes into play also......Scalia was relatively younger than other justices and the fact that he died unexpectedly places the nomination as a constitutional must-do.....

Beside it all......a nomination by the next president would place the SC without a NINTH vote until October 2017 (at least).

Why?

The idea that republican members of the Senate are right to deny a SC nominee based only on political grounds is bunk.

Yes, this is the time for a Kevin McCarthy to display his usual "honesty" and declare that stopping a vote on an Obama nominee is indeed just a politically motivated ploy.

McCarthy is in the House! They don't get to play! Read your Constitution and stop making it look like you actually know what you are talking about lib!

I always print and use Breibart.com to line the bottom of my parakeet's cage.

What? You don't use a copy of the Constitution like most libs?

Vivid blue eh? Sure you might not be dreamin' a bit there. . . ?

Here, I'll make it even easier for you.......

1. What constitutes a majority in the senate?
2. What is the current republican majority in the senate?
3. How many republicans seats do republicans need to defend this Nov.?

Address the above questions and you'll be just a tiny bit wiser.

If Hillary or Bernie is the nominee and continue their socialist love fest, how many lib Senators will be able to hitch a ride on their coat tails and overcome an incumbent GOP Senator? Not many!

First let me state (and I can say this as a fellow Sicilian-American) that Scalia will be regarded as one of the most acerbic, often mean-spirited, partisan in the modern Supreme Court.

But the question asked should be answered. Should Obama nominate to the Senate his choice to fill Scalia's seat? Bear in mind that there are still 11 months before a new president enters the oval office.

Regardless of the upcoming turbulent months, we should be mindful of the many changes that 2017 will usher to the political status quo: A new President......a new Senate makeup, and, of course, a much different Supreme Court in its ideological leanings.

Why would President Obama shirk his Constitutional responsibility to nominate a Justice to fill the vacant seat?

Nominate a libertarian.

A civil rights enforcing, gun carrying, pot legalizing, Constitution knowing, Free market loving Libertarian.

Hey, it is the best of both worlds.

The House has nothing to do with SCOTUS confirmation.

Of course I know that very well....Can you list the "great accomplishments" enacted by the House in the last 3 years????

Please, go on, we are all anxious to read the list.

You know, but that is not what you said. That's ignorance in its purest form.

Moron, I KNOW that McCarthy is in the house.....I was bringing up the fact that McCarthy OPENLY admitted that his party (and yours) are nothing much more than a bunch of partisan hacks.. So McCarthy should do that "honest" thing again.

You right wingers are denser than usual (and that's already a low bar.)

Here let me make it CLEAR of what I stated......BOTH republican led chambers have done NOTHING and they BOTH plan to do NOTHING.....

Again, the House has nothing to do with the topic, so to include them is ignorant of reality.

Obama should nominate me, Percysunshine. I do not have a law degree, but I am a really nice guy.

Oh...and I am humble.

Latest predictions don't look good for your fantasy skipper, sorry. . . .

Hope that's easy enough for you, eh?

Though to be fair, you only need five, so it looks, as usual, to be a squeaker.

Too bad the Dems. fouled up so bad with the ACA, eh?

He'll nominate one, knowing the Republicans will hold it up or shoot it down, and he'll hope for some political mileage out of that in November.

Such is politics.
.

Republicans blocking his nomination will likely lead to Republicans losing control of the Senate. I know I will be donating to every Democrat that is in a close race this year. Taking back the Senate is just as important as winning the White House.
