I'm looking at ESPN Bowl Game page and I knew there were a lot of bowls but damn!:
College Bowl Games - 2011-12 College Bowl Game Scores and Schedules - ESPN

Of course, any football fan will watch the New Years games, the Title Game and whatever Bowl Game your favorite team is in but seriously, wtf is this?:

The "Beef 'O' Bradys Bowl"? Who thought that sh*t up?
Looks like a real "barn burner" too: Fla. Int. vs Marshall! Sounds like an Airport is playing in a Bowl Game ffs!

And since they have so many bowls it looks like they're running out of good teams to stock them with. Check out the "BBVA Compass" Bowl:

7-5 SMU vs 6-6 Pittsburgh! Kinda' scraping the bottom of the barrel huh? May they should rename it "Bottom of the Barrel" Also-Ran Bowl.

And how long will it be before we see the "Viagra Bowl" or the "Tampax" bowl and where exactly would they be played and what city would dare to host a game like that?

They're replaying the "San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl" right now!!!
:clap2:

It was a pretty close game before I passed out last night
TCU verses Louisiana Tech

Bump. Looks like there's 39 Bowl games this year. This is what happens when money and crass commercialism destroys sporting traditions.

"Famous Idaho Potato Bowl" (WTF?)
"Popeyes Bahamas Bowl" (Worst chicken EVER!)
"Quick Lane Bowl"
"Duck Commander Bowl"

Why have the games at all? They all look like 3 hour long commercials for products.

Other than the games that lead to a championship, who really cares about bowls?

They are exhibition games

Let's take the number three team in the Big Ten and play them against the number four team in the Pac 12 and see who wins

Vegas sportsbooks love inconsequential college bowl games. Oh, and the students who attend the respective colleges. Outside of this, not too many others.

These colleges have fans. Why is it a problem for these games to be played.

The players get a reward for a decent year (yes, winning 6 games is decent), the fans get to see their team play, and the schools get a payday for playing in a bowl.

80% are meaningless exhibition games that lead to nothing and provide minimal bragging rights. 30 years from now, these players can brag to their grandkids how they played in the Dipshit.com bowl against a 30th ranked team.

There are 126 teams in Div 1 teams. 80% of that would be 100 teams. Do you think there are 26 teams that have a legitimate shot at the National Championship? Of course not.

Most college players play for their school, love of the game, and tradition.

80% of bowl games are completely meaningless exhibitions and forgettable

Question: Who won the Dipshit.com Bowl 2 years ago?
Answer: Nobody, because Dipshit.com did not exist 2 years ago

Other than the national championship game, by your standards, none of the bowls have any meaning.

But then, to someone who doesn't care about football, none of the bow games have any meaning at all.

But to those teams who play in them, and the fans of those teams, they have some meaning. To the schools who get a good payday for appearing in a bowl game, it certainly has meaning.

All but 4 or 5 games provide only two things:

1. Millions for Universities.
2. 3 hour long commercial for sponsor.

3. Another game for fans to enjoy.
4. Another high profile game to have potential recruits watch.

I don't understand all the negative sentiment about the bowl games. If you don't want to watch a bowl game, turn the channel. Or better yet, turn the tv off and get off your ass and do something.

Why the butt hurt?

Having 6 win teams in bowl games is a result of crass commercialism and "everyone is a winner" attitude.

Rightwinger is right. No one will remember who won the Hyundai Ass Scratch Bowl in 2014 but they will remember how all these meaningless bowl games watered down the brand.
