Scientists demand obama use RICO act to prosecute global warming deniers.

The moment they started screeching carbon taxes you knew what it was all about. A money making scheme

that and having control over our lives. they started with ObamaCare so they figured they could trample us some more with this Globull bs warming. which wasn't happening so they went and changed the name to: Climate change
if people don't see that as a Scam on them. good grief

What control has global warming given anyone over your life Stephanie?

If this can be done then lets also prosecute the news media for lying about 911.

Scientists Ask Obama To Prosecute Global Warming Skeptics

sep 17 2015 The science on global warming is settled, so settled that 20 climate scientists are asking President Barack Obama to prosecute people who disagree with them on the science behind man-made global warming.

Scientists from several universities and research centers even asked Obama to use the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) to prosecute groups that “have knowingly deceived the American people about the risks of climate change, as a means to forestall America’s response to climate change.”

RICO was a law designed to take down organized crime syndicates, but scientists now want it to be used against scientists, activists and organizations that voice their disagreement with the so-called “consensus” on global warming. The scientists repeated claims made by environmentalists that groups, especially those with ties to fossil fuels, have engaged in a misinformation campaign to confuse the public on global warming.

RICO is used for a lot of things. But thanks for the "expertise".

Fortunately for the denier bedwetters here, nobody is threatening to prosecute them for being such piss-guzzling cult morons. It's a free country, and they are free to parrot whatever nonsense their cult leaders told them to parrot. Stupidity is not a crime, a fact that deniers can be very thankful for.

However, if it is documented that a major corporation knows the truth about global warming and chose to deliberately mount a misinformation campaign, that's another story. The same kind of thing was done by the tobacco companies, and they were successfully prosecuted under RICO. There is no right to orchestrate a deliberate sustained misinformation campaign for your own financial gain. That's a conspiracy, and it's not legal.

The really ironic thing is how every single denier on this board wants climate scientists thrown in jail for doing science. That is, without exception, every denier on this board is a proud Stalinist.

Billy is a proud Stalinist.

Frank is a proud Stalinist.

Bear is a proud Stalinist.

Denier Stalinists, I suggest you all move to North Korea, where you'd fit in better.

Given that you hypocritical assholes were the first to try something like this, turn about is fair play.

Timeline: Legal Harassment of Climate Scientist Michael Mann

Too funny.... Mann is a clear deceiver and a liar who in concert with many others tried to hide their lies and deceit. Climategate revealed just how deep the conspiracy was in their own words.

I love the source... SKepticalscience.. a known left wing hack site which lies outright. A nice piece of Lew paper..

And the poo flinging monkey does what it can... fling poo... Not a shred of any evidence and broad baseless name calling assumptions (or should I say projections of snagletooths own belief system)..

You wouldn't know science if it bit you on the ass...

The Saga CONTINUES!

Investigations into the Letter have found potential defrauding and theft by George Maison University Professor Jagadish Shukla. Shukla and his family have been bilking the IEGS (a non-profit corporation which uses many professors of GMU and other colleges to push CAGW claims) of hundreds of thousands of dollars of GRANT MONIES that were awarded by NASA and other federal government agencies.

And it only gets worse as the letter (which has now been removed from the IGES site) is now causing the signatories to be scrutinized closely, very closely.

In 2001, the earliest year thus far publicly available, in 2001, in addition to his university salary (not yet available, but presumably about $125,000), Shukla and his wife received a further $214,496 in compensation from IGES (Shukla -$128,796; Anne Shukla – $85,700). Their combined compensation from IGES doubled over the next two years to approximately $400,000 (additional to Shukla’s university salary of say $130,000), for combined compensation of about $530,000 by 2004.

Shukla’s university salary increased dramatically over the decade reaching $250,866 by 2013 and $314,000 by 2014. (In this latter year, Shukla was paid much more than Ed Wegman, a George Mason professor of similar seniority). Meanwhile, despite the apparent transition of IGES to George Mason, the income of the Shuklas from IGES continued to increase, reaching $547,000 by 2013. Combined with Shukla’s university salary, the total compensation of Shukla and his wife exceeded $800,000 in both 2013 and 2014. In addition, as noted above, Shukla’s daughter continued to be employed by IGES in 2014; IGES also distributed $100,000 from its climate grant revenue to support an educational charity in India which Shukla had founded.

The foundation is a left wing, socialist, one world government, espousing site and its charter is very concerning.

The deeper they look, the worse it looks, and the level of reported theft is astonishing..

Most americans realized global warming is a scam when the movement changed its name to "climate change". Hell - climate change covers everything!!
Wrong most Americans believe man made global climate change is real.

China just came to discuss it.

Let me guess, you're a redumblican?

NO CHINA DID NOT DISCUSS IT... OBAMA GAVE THEM A FEE PASS TO DO AS THEY WANT FOR 60 years.. This was an demand to bend over so they could shove it up Americas ass..

Let me guess... Your a low information voter dependent on your Obama phone and welfare...

I am surprised that there is not much discussion about this. Shukla, and his family, are pulling double-dip salaries that are the equivilent to Heartland's total climate change expenditures. and the output of papers paid for by the public largesse is pathetically small. how many other 'researchers' are ripping off govt funding at the same rate as this guy? what a travesty! I suppose it is too much to expect an inquiry from G. Mason Univ. into the financial mess, even if it turns out to be a whitewash.

Folks - please get back on topic - if you can't remember it, review the OP.

The same incestuous relationships in IEGS have reincarnated themselves in the newer version which is now operating under the ospice of GMU. The COLA organization and its website is an identical twin to IGES.

Smith: Taxpayer-Funded Climate Org Allegedly Seeks Criminal Penalties for Skeptics

Washington, D.C. – Science, Space, and Technology Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) today sent a letter to Dr. Jagadish Shukla, a professor of climate dynamics at George Mason University who founded the Institute of Global Environment and Society (IGES). IGES is a non-profit organization that has received millions of dollars in federal grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and NASA.

According to media reports, IGES is responsible for circulating a letter to the president and senior White House officials requesting a criminal investigation of organizations who question the risks of climate change. Specifically, the letter seeks a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) investigation that would allow the government to impose criminal penalties. The letter was posted to the IGES website and later removed and replaced with a note saying it had been “inadvertently posted.”

Chairman Smith: “IGES appears to be almost fully funded by taxpayer money while simultaneously participating in partisan political activity by requesting a RICO investigation of companies and organizations that disagree with the Obama administration on climate change. In fact, IGES has reportedly received $63 million from taxpayers since 2001, comprising over 98 percent of its total revenue during that time.”

In light of the non-profit’s decision to remove the controversial letter from its website, Smith directs IGES to preserve “all e-mail, electronic documents, and data created since January 1, 2009, that can be reasonably anticipated to be subject to a request for production by the Committee.”
The full letter can be found here.

hahahahahaha. Shukla must be banging his head against the wall about now! all that publicly funded gravy is about to dry up, and for what? a stupid insult against skeptics. serves him right, I hope there is a way to bring criminal charges against him if they are warranted.

ALARMIST'S DESPERATION REACHES GOBBLES LEVEL...

It seems when your broken models have no predictive power and your spewage is seen as deceptive and a lie, you will go to great lengths to silence those who disagree. The list of signatures on the letter demanding that Obama use RICO to silence those showing their fraud is a who's who of climate modeling failure.

The letter;
Dear President Obama, Attorney General Lynch, and OSTP Director Holdren,

As you know, an overwhelming majority of climate scientists are convinced about the potentially serious adverse effects of human-induced climate change on human health, agriculture, and biodiversity. We applaud your efforts to regulate emissions and the other steps you are taking. Nonetheless, as climate scientists we are exceedingly concerned that America’s response to climate change – indeed, the world’s response to climate change – is insufficient. The risks posed by climate change, including increasing extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and increasing ocean acidity – and potential strategies for addressing them – are detailed in the Third National Climate Assessment (2014), Climate Change Impacts in the United States. The stability of the Earth’s climate over the past ten thousand years contributed to the growth of agriculture and therefore, a thriving human civilization. We are now at high risk of seriously destabilizing the Earth’s climate and irreparably harming people around the world, especially the world’s poorest people.

We appreciate that you are making aggressive and imaginative use of the limited tools available to you in the face of a recalcitrant Congress. One additional tool – recently proposed by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse – is a RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) investigation of corporations and other organizations that have knowingly deceived the American people about the risks of climate change, as a means to forestall America’s response to climate change. The actions of these organizations have been extensively documented in peer reviewed academic research (Brulle, 2013) and in recent books including: Doubt is their Product (Michaels, 2008), Climate Cover-Up (Hoggan & Littlemore, 2009), Merchants of Doubt (Oreskes & Conway, 2010), The Climate War (Pooley, 2010), and in The Climate Deception Dossiers (Union of Concerned Scientists, 2015). We strongly endorse Senator Whitehouse’s call for a RICO investigation.

The methods of these organizations are quite similar to those used earlier by the tobacco industry. A RICO investigation (1999 to 2006) played an important role in stopping the tobacco industry from continuing to deceive the American people about the dangers of smoking. If corporations in the fossil fuel industry and their supporters are guilty of the misdeeds that have been documented in books and journal articles, it is imperative that these misdeeds be stopped as soon as possible so that America and the world can get on with the critically important business of finding effective ways to restabilize the Earth’s climate, before even more lasting damage is done.

The letters logical fallacy and conspiracy theroy show these people to be very desperate to keep funding alive for their cause. It also shows that these people have no concept of what real science is about or the scientific method.

The letter is being shredded on JoNova's site as well as WUWT;

Climate Alarmists demand Obama use the RICO act to Silence Critics

The left wit alarmists are pulling out all the stops no matter how stupid they look. I knew it was going to get uglier the closer we got to the Paris money grab but this is ridicules.

How about identifying what the material in the original post you believe to be logically fallacious conspiracy theory?

It gets worse... Congress has served a supeona and demand to retain all documents written and electronic..

Jagadish Shukla's #RICO20 blunder may have opened the 'largest science scandal in US history'

Now the questions become who at NSF, Who at NASA, and Who at NOAA also knew.... Tom Karl is among them.. This is about to get very interesting.. 31 million dollars plus.....

You want to start talking conspiracy or collusion that RICO was built for.... This might be it!
