Science and the Garden of Eden

I've heard time and again how religion is what is responsible for all the problems in this world and how science is our savior and that people should only look to science. But is this accurate?

In the Bible we read the story of the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve partook of the tree of "knowledge" of good and evil. So as we see from the story, they were after knowledge and power, something that science also gives us.

So is knowledge and power a bad thing? Only if you abuse it. I'm often reminded of people who want education to be free from religious or moral input, only to raise a generation of children who are empowered by education in an amoral type environment. Are we only arming amoral people with an education?

That said, we hear day after day how global warming is destroying the world, not religion. So how did global warming become such an issue? Is it not because of the use of science that brought us knowledge on how to convert fossil fuel fuels to empower us? Is not science complicit in the destruction of the planet, assuming all the hype is accurate?

Or what of genetically modified foods that corporations like Monsanto has created? What about the risks to our health and the environment?

DarkGovernment

Could it be that such technological advances might endanger our food supply and wipe out reproducing vegetation we rely on to eat, among other worries.

And what of WMD's? What is more likely, destruction from religion or destruction from the use of WMD's? I hear Russia has a bomb called "satan" that can destroy and entire country with one bombing, and we see a mad rush by other countries to amass WMD's, like North Korea.

So whether the story of the Garden of Eden be literal or otherwise, is the message a valid message that we face today? Is the issue the power of knowledge devoid of morality and wisdom that is what plagues mankind, and probably eventually destroy mankind?

Valid points. Goes to the flaws in the assumptions of those who claim science is a paradigm to live by.

Science is one of several methods of learning truth. What we do with that truth is up to us

Someone missed the point of the Eden metaphor. It was the binary thinking that 'good' and 'evil' represent that was the curse, not knowledge in itself.
Of course it was a metaphor, and since it's about the false promises of eternity in believing in the false Prophet(serpent) then the forbidden tree representing fruits(teachings) means it's a tree baring fruit (teachings) of mixing both Good teachings and false evil resulting teachings=tree(cross) of good and evil. Even the center of the Garden represents where the rivers (faiths) crossed and existed in Ancient Persia where the mythologies of Mithra & Zoroaster rose from, and they admit borrowing from Zoroaster in The John Apochrypha.

From my vantage point the story shows us man's attempt to gain power for himself, using knowledge to advance his power that was not endorsed by God.

Now man creates his own morals as he equips himself with knowledge to empower himself.

We know Adam and Eve aren't literal first inhabitants, they are symbols in a story representing something.
You won't see that message if you don't have the key, that being understanding where the message comes from and it's purpose. You all see the messages coming from the past to warn the future forgeting Heaven is the perfected kingdom to come thus Future which is warning the past. You don't notice these things because you think of time in a linear sense when the message is from the non linear capability advanced future. You were given clues when the OT said in Isaiah, the begining is at the end. Now read Genesis representing warnings to man from those who know where we mess up.
In the Zohar Lilith the first woman is equated as Israel. Lilith left man when man refused her equality and she refused his "missionary" position.
Adam (meaning man) was then given a partner which came out of his rib (not out of God's creation) as soon as she saw Eve (adam-man's second bride)clinging to his side she (Lilith- the Night Spector) fled from man .
Lilith thus was cast into the depths of the sea (Rome), where she abode until the time that Adam and his wife (the church) sinned. Then the Holy One, brought her out from the depth of the sea (Rome) and gave her power over all those children by "bringing back" the first bride (Israel).
Remember it was Eve(the church) who was convinced by the fallen false prophet Jesus =serpent to partake of his fruit(teachings) claiming to believe in his tree (cross) and you'll be eternal(in death not life).
Eve(church) talked Adam (man) to partake on this serpents(Jesus) teachings both good and evil mixed in a way unrecognizable to what was benefit and what was harmful and thus they did die from partaking this fruit.
The word regarding naked is spelled in Hebrew in the same manner as being unveiled(exposed) of deceptions, therefore they covered their deceptions as in covering up the naked truth.
From my Bible Lexicon;
The Hebrew has no vowels can be read as
-eromim meaning without clothes or
-arumim meaning the uncovering of
deceptions as in 'the naked truth'.
Is ANYTHING in the bible literal, or does every word of it mean something else?

Study it for yourself and ask the Lord

"I've heard time and again how religion is what is responsible for all the problems in this world and how science is our savior and that people should only look to science. But is this accurate?"

Religion is not responsible for ANY of the problems in this world, any more than a weapon is responsible for killing something or someone. It is the person or persons who kill or otherwise do harm to others for their own reasons that has nothing to do with serving any God. Nor is science our savior, it can be used for good or bad purposes. Each of us can make choices; those choices made to serve ourselves are usually poor choices that contribute to the ills of humanity, but those made to help others will contribute to mankind's betterment.

Literary devices are not new. The Bible is essentially this story:

The people of God discover and indulge in other ways. That is, they start worshipping idols and other people's gods. Eating the fruit of this tree, they no longer eat from the tree of life (they no longer fellowship with God).

Hence their anticipation of a Messiah, who restores the people of God to the Garden of Eden. No longer referred to as Israelites, they are now called saints (Christians later on).

The Church has prevailed upon the earth, as Revelation predicted, and the earth has prospered.

That's the story of the Bible, complete and unadulterated.

Technological and cultural advantages that the Christianized West conquered the world with didn't come to them by accident. Science has enjoyed more prominence in the world because of Christianity.
Science has enjoyed more prominence DESPITE Christianity because it can be proven to thinking people. The Inquisition, among other things, tried to STOP the advances of science. Please try again.

The word for Adam in Hebrew means man.
If it was in the dictionary it would say definition=Man, mankind.
The Hebrew word translated as serpent is a "Shining Viper" thus a word used to describe the radiant lucifer character(false prophet).
Perfect poetic symbolic use of a word now that we know the son of perdition being an image of a fallen anointed guardian man deemed perfect
-Ezekiel 28 Who in depictions /iconographs is seen in radiant rays of luciferous light eminating from the luciferous heart icon and
luciferous body. Remember the image came to both Paul and Constantine as a phosphorus (luciferous) light calling itself Jesus.
So sages used poetic license in describing things in resembling ways as best they could.
Now if you believed the stories true and not some mushroom trip or tall tale, then the witness is describing things from the standpoint of his time period and slang of that era, but in our technological era we'd call that Paul and Constantine vision a lucid dream or Holograph in which case if the later is true we already have the technology to send sound faster then light and Holographs are made of Photons so it's not far fetched and any advanced age manipulater withthe proper tools can guide or deceive the past with holographic images(light beings) that speak and that the battle for the future is in shaping or manipulating in propaganda the past. Hence my post about morality & behavior and psychology must advance with technology or it will be used for evil intent rather then the beneficial good.

Jesus is deemed the fallen Morning Star
in Rev 22:16.
and the luciferous (radiant light rays) heart symbol is portrayed in:
“So we have the prophetic message more fully confirmed. You will do well to be attentive to this *as to a lamp shining in a dark place*, until the day dawns and the morning star (LUCIFER)rises in your "hearts.”

Dan 10:20-21 where it says in regards to Michael best knowing the scripture of truth:
*"Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee And now will
*Hashev Lacham Sar Parac"
(HaShev fight the prince of Persia).

The Bible does not sayJesus, the Pope, Peter or Paul, nor Mudda best knows the scripture of truth.
It does however say about Muddas who like to muddy the waters:
Ezekiel 34:18 Is it not enough for you to feed on the good pasture? Must you also trample the rest of your pasture with your feet? Is it not enough for you to drink clear water? Must you also muddy the rest with your feet?

No, I meant OT. Which includes NT. And any derivatives. All evil human-created fantasies created simply to make the rulers wealthy and powerful at the expense of the common people seeking spiritual realities. And then fooling them enough so that they go out and kill/conquer/rape others to promote their religion. And then fooling them again in modern times, to think that they're nice people following a flowery religion, and previous stuff didn't happen.

"Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it."

So yes, those followers pose the ultimate threat, since they believe they will go to "heaven" or "utopia" once they kill everybody, and/or die themselves. They have no fear. They have no morals. no ethics, and obviously lack wisdom (ie spirituality).
I believe you meant to type NT not OT.

Then I feel sorry for you, you obviously can't read or discern what you are reading.
Even the NT says to continue the laws and keep the Torah, they too have trouble reading.

Malachi 4:4 talks about obeying the laws of Moses.
Mathew talks about keeping the Torah, and there are many verses about keeping the commandments.

From my Bible Lexicon;
The Hebrew has no vowels can be read as
-eromim meaning without clothes or
-arumim meaning the uncovering of
deceptions as in 'the naked truth'.
Is ANYTHING in the bible literal, or does every word of it mean something else?
That's like asking: "Is ANYTHING in the Dictionary literal, or does every word of it mean something else?"

Morning Star(fallen arc of venus)= Lucifer
Jesus is deemed the fallen Morning Star
in Rev 22:16.
and the luciferous (radiant light rays) heart symbol is portrayed in:
“So we have the prophetic message more fully confirmed. You will do well to be attentive to this *as to a lamp shining in a dark place*, until the day dawns and the morning star (LUCIFER)rises in your "hearts.”

So you're saying that nothing in the bible is literal and you have to have the HaShev magical translating book to know what it's actually about?

Must you also muddy the rest with your feet?

;-)
That's not to be taken literally.

So you are inviting your neighbors to steal your newspaper, ride your motorcycle, inviting them to come into your unlocked doors, and hit on your spouse when you both go out?
Because if you do not believe in laws then you are not protected by them either.
