Schiff floats subpoena for Putin meeting translator, as Dem majority ramps up Trump probes

If there is nothing to hid, why would anybody be against subpoenaing the interpreter?
62% of Americans think Trump has been dishonest with the American people regarding the Russian probe..
Most Americans Think Trump Has Been Dishonest in Russia Probe
It looks like just Little Trumpsters see it as no problem. Of course, Little Trumpsters have no problem with Trump lying to them and the American people.. What a surprise!
This is serious stuff and the more Trump fights it, the more he looks guilty.

"Current and former diplomats—even those staunchly critical of Trump and unnerved by his relationship with Putin—are uneasy with the request. They say it undercuts the sanctity of private conversations that U.S. leaders need to have with foreign counterparts.

Interpreters have an important behind-the-scenes role in diplomacy, but it’s behind the scenes for a reason. If an interpreter is hauled before congress, foreign leaders and diplomats might think twice about being blunt and direct with Trump or his top officials in future sit-downs."

Security Brief: Trump, Russia Bombshells Shake Washington; Prepping for War with Iran

There is that and then there's this:
  • tely horrified at the prospect of a subpoena for Gross. No admirer of Trump’s, this person felt such a subpoena would create a new precedent that would shadow all future confidential presidential conversations with non-English-speaking heads of government, allied as well as adversarial.
  • The Trump administration would surely raise an executive-privilege objection. In the 1974 case U.S. v. Nixon, the Supreme Court rejected an absolute claim of internal privilege within the executive branch. But it acknowledged “the valid need for protection of communications between high Government officials and those who advise and assist them in the performance of their manifold duties.” The court stressed that this privilege was at its strongest in military and diplomatic affairs, which would presumably describe the Helsinki meeting.
  • There is a nontrivial possibility that Gross might refuse to testify. Interpreters have a strong professional code of confidentiality. This code is not recognized in law, but like a newspaper reporter protecting his or her sources, Gross might feel honor-bound to uphold the code anyway—risking a contempt citation or even jail. Should she be put in that position?
Against those arguments is this fact: We are facing very possibly the worst scandal in the history of the U.S. government. Previous high-profile cases of disloyalty to the United States—Julius and Ethel Rosenberg’s betrayal of atomic secrets to the U.S.S.R.; Secretary of War John B. Floyd’s allowing federal arsenals to fall into secessionist hands in 1861—did not involve presidents. Previous presidential scandals did not involve allegations of disloyalty.
s the president of the United States a Russian asset? Is he subject to Russian blackmail? Is he at this hour conniving with the Russian president against the interests of the United States? These are haunting questions, and Trump’s own determination to defy normal presidential operating procedures to keep secret his private conversations with Putin only lends credibility to the worst suspicions.
I wrote in my book Trumpocracy about the “autoimmune disorders” triggered by this most corrupt, most authoritarian, and perhaps most compromised of all presidencies. Trump’s breaches of norms force other agencies of government to breach norms in reply, in order to protect supreme public interests threatened by Trump. These norm-breaches by the other agencies do genuine harm, just as the aggressive autoimmune responses of the human body do real harm. But the alternative—suppressing all immune responses—is to allow the infection to fester and eventually destroy the host it occupies.

The scandal of the Trump presidency leaves Americans only bad choices. Powers and privileges essential to the functioning of an honest and patriotic presidency are called into question by this dishonest and unpatriotic presidency. Succeeding presidents and Congresses will have to find a way to restore or replace busted norms with new ones—but pretending now that the old rules can function as intended is not only delusive, but dangerous.

I agree. If I were being accused of what he is, I would welcome the chance to prove my accusers wrong. And you're right, this is serious stuff, but his cultists here have already said they don't care if he is working with Russia because they'd rather be a Russian than a Democrat. That tells me they'd rather be a Russian than an American.
I'm old enough to remember when Russia was our sworn enemy. When I was in grade school, we had drills where we would hide under our desks or out in the halls as a practice in case Russia hit us with nuclear bombs. Later, we knew that Khrushchev and the Kremlin was still our enemy, but now, Putin is a good guy?
They say all that because the whole party got caught being complicit with Trump, and they have no other recourse.

And what is a Russian, that a Democrat is not? A Democrat is not under the rule of an authoritarian dictator like Russia is. Democrats recognize Constitutional law and a Declaration of Independence. Russia does not. If Republicans want to be Russians , then amend the Constitution and elect yourselves a dictator, and you all can be Russians.

This is Schiffhead trying to criminalize everything a President says or does.

All that schiffhead can do is spew more bullschiff out of his schiffhole.

But all schiffing aside, we all know the real schiff going on here.

Schiff just wants to distract us from pursuing any investigation into all the Diomoc rat horse schiff that has been going on for ever, like spreading the schiff around for church roofing money and that kind of schiff.

That is all I can post right now on this as I got to go take a huge schiff for some reason.
Trump was right. Republicans really are part of the dumbest voting block.

Schiff is right. If we have a compromised President, the people need to know. There is more than enough reasonable suspicion to launch an investigation against Trump.
Trump to translator: " Hey, im going to talk to Putin about our treasonous scheme against the US. Youll keep this between us, right?"

I bet your dumb enough to actually think they would have such a conversation with some random dude present.

Newly minted House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff hinted over the weekend that he could subpoena notes or testimony from the interpreter in several meetings between President Trump and Russia's Vladimir Putin, a move that would dramatically escalate majority Democrats' investigations into the Trump administration.

The chamber's newly empowered Democratic committee chairmen already are probing a range of Trump controversies, including calling a hearing with ex-fixer Michael Cohen who has detailed Trump's alleged role in making hush-money payments to mistresses.

But a move to obtain interpreter details from Putin meetings would trigger a major confrontation between the executive and legislative branches concerning discussions with foreign leaders. Schiff, D-Calif., weighed in after The Washington Post reported that Trump took possession of the notes from his own interpreter and instructed the individual not to discuss what had taken place in the meeting with other administration officials.

The report said Trump took the notes after a meeting with Putin in Hamburg in 2017 where his former secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, was present. The report also said there are no detailed records of Trump’s private meetings with Putin over the past two years, and administration officials have not gotten a full readout from their summit in Helsinki, Finland last summer. The report fueled suspicions from Democrats who have long alleged Trump is too close to Russia, and are closely watching the special counsel probe into possible collusion -- which Trump regularly pans as an unfounded "witch hunt."

“Last year, we sought to obtain the interpreter’s notes or testimony, from the private meeting between Trump and Putin. The Republicans on our committee voted us down. Will they join us now? Shouldn’t we find out whether our president is really putting ‘America first?’” Schiff tweeted on Sunday.

Did pencil neck ever hear of Executive Privelage?...The surrender monkey did it for Eric Holder with Fast & Furious!

Great idea, let’s make sure that no foreign leader ever feels comfortable having a private discussion with an American president again.

It’s way past time for Trump to turn the tables on these Democrat ass-hats. It would be interesting to get some insight into how Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters got so wealthy for starters.
Well, the Democrats have no affirmative agenda for America to work on, so they have to do something to keep busy. They seem to think that if they can grab headlines with controversial threats and predictions, no one will notice they have nothing to offer the American people.
With this illegally elected authoritarian and multiple conspiracies proven, the Democrats have a plate full to try and restore this country back to a Democracy..

He didn't ask that of the translator. He just stole the translation. With "some random dude present", and the translation stolen, do you think Trump gives a shit? Remember, this is the guy who thinks that you just grab women by the pussy. Trump doesn't give a shit about anything or anybody or what they say later on.

Obama had no "secret" undocumented talks with foreign leaders. Since Trump didn't decide to make it undocumented until the chat was over, I wonder what got brought up? Tillerson heard the conversation. Maybe we could waterboard him?

How much should Schiff spend on his investigations? 1 million? 2 million? As much time as Mueller? Should he call on Rosenstein? Comey? He either works for OUR greater good, or he is just a Democrat revenge tool.
Did you ask this during the numerous Benghazi investigations? Doubt it

Remember why Tillerson was nominated SOS? He is the executive for Exxon. And Exxon has possibly one of the largest pending oil deals with Rosneft/Russia in the North Kara sea worth a half a trillion dollars. And that's just one oil well. Don't you know those dollar signs are ringing in Trumps ear every time he even hears the name Putin. That's what all this is about. It's about the money.

For real?

Nov 20, 2017 · The Border Patrol agent killed Sunday in west Texas was ... was the 2010 murder of Arizona Agent Brian Terry, a case that became

"Border Patrol agents shot beanbags at a group of suspected bandits before the men returned fire during a confrontation in a remote canyon, killing agent Brian Terry with a single gunshot, records show.

And an illegal immigrant wounded in the gunbattle who is now the only person in custody linked to the slaying contends he never fired a shot, according to FBI search warrant requests filed in the U.S. District Court in Tucson.

The documents provide the most detailed version yet of what happened in the deadly gunbattle Dec. 14 in Peck Canyon, northwest of Nogales.

The documents say the group of illegal border entrants refused commands to drop their weapons after agents confronted them at about 11:15 p.m. Two agents fired beanbags at the migrants, who responded with gunfire. Two agents returned fire, one with a long gun and one with a pistol, but Terry was mortally wounded in the gunfight.

Border Patrol officials declined to answer questions about protocol for use of force, citing the ongoing investigation.

Records show agents fired beanbags in fatal border gunfight
And how many documents were altered under Obama. I can think of a FEW 302's that were altered to show what the Surrender monkey wanted them to show....and back in the beginning of the Surrender monkeys regime NO ONE QUESTIONED the validity of a report!
