Satanism is a group of ideological and philosophical beliefs based on the character of Satan. Contemporary religious practice of Satanism began with the founding of the Church of Satan in 1966, although a few historical precedents exist. Prior to the public practice, Satanism existed primarily as an accusation by various Christian groups toward perceived ideological opponents, rather than a self-identity. Satanism, and the concept of Satan, has also been used by artists and entertainers for symbolic expression.
Accusations that various groups have been practicing Satanism have been made throughout much of Christian history (source of information: Wikipedia).
Since Satan is moslty considered an 'adversary' of humanity and mainstream religiosity and even God, Satanism is considered non-mainstream and even unusual.
Satanists believe that ideas regarding rebelling against God reflect a natural human imagination about the creative contouring of anti-establishmentarianism. Just as Christianity has been socially linked to 'peace-promoting' customs/rituals such as Christmas and democracy, Satanism has been anthropologically linked to 'rebelliousness' oriented behaviors/customs such as rock music (e.g., Rolling Stones) and witchcraft (e.g., Halloween).
Therefore, a Satanist may exhibit interests in non-mainstream artistic 'sectors' of human civilization (e.g., Beatnik philosophy). A Satanist may claim he/she is a deep fan of horror films (e.g., Friday the 13th) or pro-youth music (e.g., Anthrax).
Satanists have been accused of 'unnatural beliefs,' 'dangerous sexual orientations,' and even 'anti-social biases.'
Because of such considerations, we can use 'etiquette frameworks' to understand the marketability of Satanism as it relates to religious pluralism in America (e.g., Scientology).

TRUMP: Satanists and Paganists have a right to vote in America.
CLINTON: You care if they vote in favor of consumerism.
TRUMP: We have to compete with Al Jazeera TV.
CLINTON: Well, Americans boast the 'pro-populism' The Charlie Rose Show.
TRUMP: Americans love Halloween.
CLINTON: Americans also love the horror-film Halloween.
TRUMP: Do you believe democracy requires an appreciation of religious pluralism?
CLINTON: Halloween is not religious pluralism!
TRUMP: Yes, but it reminds us of the 'creativity' of metaphysics, no?
CLINTON: Sure.
TRUMP: Maybe Tom Cruise is a Satanist.
CLINTON: No, Tom Cruise is a Scientologist.
TRUMP: What's the difference?
CLINTON: That's something your administration will have to address.
TRUMP: Oh, because I'm considered a 'fanatical' pro-capitalist?
CLINTON: Correct --- with little passion for spiritual topics.
TRUMP: I'll work on that...
CLINTON: Maybe the next presidential candidate will be a Satanist.
TRUMP: Americans are more conservative than the world realizes.
CLINTON: America has to be the 'Big Brother' of bias controversies.
