Georgia fell into civil war in 1996 - it's something called "history." Abkhazia and South Ossetia both declared they were independent states. Georgia claimed they controlled both regions, but never gained political or military control of either. In 2008, Putin officially recognized the two regions as independent and signed an alliance with them, effectively making them Russian protectorates. This pissed Georgia off, and a shooting war started. But Georgia couldn't even take South Ossetia without Russian support, so it ended as it started, with Abkhazia and South Ossetia under the thumb of Putin.

This is just history - just fact. Russia did not invade Georgia, though they are scumbags and arm rebel groups.

I didn't say anything about not using diplomatic channels. I was merely questioning Russian interference in the Ukraine when the west is doing the same thing.
