>> The man who was punched in the face by a Donald Trump supporter at one of the President-elect’s rallies earlier this year got an apology from his attacker, and even gave him a hug when they met during a court hearing Wednesday.

McGraw was charged in March after online videos showed him sucker-punching Jones in the face. He later said, “The next time we see him, we might have to kill him.”

McGraw and Jones appeared to put their differences aside when they came face to face in court. Jones said that the two men talked online before meeting, and came to an understanding.

“He basically wanted to let me know that it wasn’t a racial thing that he didn’t threaten me,” Jones said. “It wasn’t scripted.” << -- Man Punched by Trump Supporter at NC Rally Receives Apology, Hug From Attacker

I suspect this is a manifestation of the spiritual healing of which emilynghiem often speaks. It's a damn sight better story than the divisive hateful crap the bitter old men of this board love to keep dumping.

Here's a guy who forgives his attacker and pronounces the apology sincere. Donald Rump loves to incite this kind of shit but here are two people rising above it and saying no to that sort of manipulation. Good for them. United we stand.

To quote John McGraw directly:
"We are caught up in a political mess today, and you and me, we got to heal our country.” Well said.

Nice story to share. In rally mode, a lot of people get caught up in the mob mentality and go "bot." Most of the people I've ever met have a decent side and can be dealt with. It stands to reason that 99% of the people at these rallies are the same. They just need to get away from the mob and go back to thinking and behaving like themselves. I hear yesterday at some Trump rallies there were lots of fisticuffs between supporters and anti-'s. More work for Emily on the way.

Spot on. Mob Mentality, and being manipulated into it, is exactly the crux of the matter. That's why healthy skepticism and critical thought are so vital. Way too many just swallow whatever snake oil they're sold without ever a thought as to why that salesman might be selling it. And what they have to gain from it.

Always remember that Trump was a disciple of Roy Cohn, the scum bucket who was Joe McCarthy's chief attack dog during the communist witch hunt...and Cohn taught Trump to NEVER apologize and ALWAYS attack.....

Luckily, some Trump supporters are realizing that their ultra-partisanship is counter productive.

I think Norman Vincent Peale taught him that. At least the self-delusional "never be wrong" crapola.

Peale, and Rump's hopeless NPD and belligerent nature, which is nobody's fault but his own.

Welcome to a couple of months ago, pogo. Yeah, it's good thing that the attacker apologized, but this OP is a lame attempt at blaming trump for the actions of one idiot.

No such "attempt" is necessary. It's well known to everybody except the Denialists.

How is that river anyway? Wet?

Here we go, for the next four (probably the next eight years) every felony will be committed by a "Trump supporter" in the minds of the crazy left.

I'm still not comfortable for blaming all of this on Trump. The anti-Trump rallies that have been ongoing since his inauguration have been just as blindly "bad," imo. Anti anything is going to be destructive rather than productive and it is certainly adding huge fuel to the fire.

I'm open to convincing, though. Just don't give me the same old tired partisan shite that it's justified because a lot of it isn't. If there is a protest for a good, particular reason, fine. The Travel Ban, yes. The Anti-demonstrators that show up to just generally bitch about everything Trump and Republicans stand for? Not so effective in my eyes. It just fuels the hate on the other side. The Trump rallies aren't anti-liberal, they are FOR stuff. The left has got to get back to what they stand for, not against. I'm not seeing a whole lot of it yet.

And you won't because they don't believe that they can make a real argument FOR what they want.

One of these days learn how to read. I applauded McGraw's action and quoted him. As for Rump, I have always called out the catalyst for the manipulating scumbag he is. The point is here's two people the scumbag manipulated, who broke free of it.

Your turn.

YOu applaud him for reaching across the division that plagues our nation, and then IMMEDIATELY do you part to fan the flames of that division by insulting your political opponents.

President TRump has not divided this nation. People like YOU have.

  • After a Trump supporter sucker-punched protester Rakeem Jones and threatened to "kill him" next time, Trump said: "He obviously loves this country and maybe he doesn't like seeing what's happening to the country."
  • Trump told a Cedar Rapids crowd to "... knock the crap out of 'em, would you? Seriously. Okay? Just knock the hell — I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees. I promise. I promise."
  • During a protest in Warren, Michigan, Trump said of a protester: "Get him out. Try not to hurt him. If you do I'll defend you in court."
  • "Are Trump rallies the most fun?" he then asked the Warren crowd, as if violence is humorous entertainment. "We're having a good time."
  • At a New Hampshire rally where a protester was "taken out" by the audience, Trump gleefully said: "It was really amazing to watch."
  • During a rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Trump said: "In the good old days, this doesn't happen, because they used to treat them very, very rough. We've become very weak."
  • After a Trump supporter punched and choked a protester at a rally in Birmingham, Trump said: "maybe he deserved to get roughed up."
  • In Las Vegas, Trump was not happy to see a protester being escorted away peacefully: "The guards are being very gentle with him," Trump said. "I'd like to punch him in the face, I'll tell you that."
  • "We're not allowed to punch back any more," Trump lamented in Las Vegas. But a security guard denied that the protester had thrown any punches, saying Trump was "over-exaggerating."
  • Trump continued his tirade: "I love the old days. You know what they used to do to guys like that in a place like this? They'd be carried out on a stretcher, folks."
  • "Sometimes we talk a little bit tough," Trump said. "When I see somebody out swinging his fists, I say, ‘Get 'em the hell out of here.' We're a little rough."
  • Taunting demonstrators at a rally in St. Louis, Trump said insultingly: "Go home and get a job. Go home to mommy."
  • Trump told security to eject a Burlington protester and to confiscate the heckler’s coat, sending him into the Vermont winter without protection: "You know it’s about ten degrees below zero outside," he gleefully enthused.
  • At a University of Central Florida rally, Trump appeared barely able to contain his glee at the violence that ensued. "It’s sort of exciting, isn’t it? Sort of exciting!" Trump said as a protester was removed. "Aren’t Trump rallies the greatest?"
--- and that's only the ones addressed directly to people in front of him, not even counting nationalities, religions, women, people with congenital physical ailments, veterans, political rivals, debate moderators, reporters and freaking Rosie O'Donnell.

--- "who, me? :eusa_angel: "

--- Then of course there's this, when asked what would ensue if the Republican convention did not nominate him despite his primary wins (as it had for instance in 1912):

I think you'd have riots," Trump said on CNN. Noting that he's "representing many millions of people," he told Chris Cuomo: "If you disenfranchise those people, and you say, ‘I'm sorry, you're 100 votes short'… I think you'd have problems like you've never seen before. I think bad things would happen."
If that body of evidence isn't inciting violence I'm the fucking queen of Belgium.

So basically, if Trump supporters get violent (exceedingly rare) they really regret it and everyone shuns them, to the point of apology and hugs.

With hard leftists, they beat people up, destroy property and what does the left do? Cheer and encourage!

Bzzzt. I'm sorry, that's not correct.

Here's where you went off the road ---

"lefties thugs riled up by HIllary"

--- I posted a list a mile long of Rump's actual incitements to violence. Quotes, dates, places. You posted one sentence of your own ipse dixit. So absolutely DO feel free to post the corresponding quotes of Clinton bellowing "there used to be consequences" or "I'd like to punch him in the face" or "knock the hell".

That's my favourite one actually. "Knock the hell". Orange has a way with words.

Here's the other place you skidded into the ravine --

"YOu post examples of asshole lefties disrupting Trump rallies"

Nope. Those are Rumpians. And I didn't even post 'em all. One of them is John McGraw, who as I described in the OP, came around to do (and say) the right thing.

I don't know what those photos are (and you don't say) but I find that second picture disgusting. I would NEVER go out in public wearing socks without shoes :gay:

The OP celebrates the "healing" of the accepted apology, and then immediately attacks the President and insults his supporters on this site.

Nnnnnnnope, wrong answer, try again.

--- all of which get followed up by the most hilarious quote of all:

YOu post examples of asshole lefties disrupting Trump rallies.

Meanwhile in the streets, lefties thugs riled up by HIllary, are targeting people for simply holding the "wrong" political positions.

When Hillary and other lefties support the vile and moronic claim that Trump is a "Hitler" that will get us killed in a nuclear war, they are convincing millions of people that the situation is so bad that violence is justified.

And again, big difference between throwing hostile protesters and hecklers OUT of your own rally, and simply attacking people in the streets.

Apparently I got 'em and you don't.
