I don't actually ignore "replies". I just don't bother to go back to most threads. Reason is, by the second or third page of a given thread, it's just juvenile name calling that doesn't interest me.

At the time, we were in a cold war with the Soviet Union. The lines were very distinct. Boo was on the other side. When Reagan stopped Soviet warships from using Nicaraguan ports, he cut off supply lines to the Soviet beachhead. This disrupted the entire Soviet war machine. To someone like boo, this was outrageous. They were so close, there were T-80's and KA-50's in Managua, Honduras was easy prey, then Guatemala, and the prize, Mexico, for the taking. But without a deep water port, the entire invasion was scuttled.
It was a high-stakes game. 5th column guys like boo were sure they had already won. Carter had declared Soviet supremacy in Europe and was disarming US defensive structures. You can't blame boo for thinking he had won.
