I happened upon this old article from 2008.

McCain in talks with Ron Paul for backing - Washington Times

It shows that the GOP nominee even back in 2008, when Paul had less than half of the support he has now in 2012, knew that he needed Ron Paul and his supporters.

    So what about now?

Well we know Ron Paul's delegate strategy is doing better than the media is reporting, but we also know that he didn't win the straw poll in any of the states that he needed to win. We can argue about the obvious fraud that occurred in Maine, but it doesn't matter. Romney won, fair or not. Not to mention how Paul underperformed in states like Alaska and North Dakota.

Regardless, the GOP nominee, whether it's Romney or Santorum (My money's still on Romney), is going to need Ron Paul's supporters in November just like McCain did in 2008.

Ron Paul goes along with McCain and Mitt and Santorum and Bush on most issues. When it comes to privatizing the commons, they are all alike. Free for all. Every man for himself. Survival of the fittest. No sense of community. No more am I my brothers keeper. No longer are we all in this together. Now that's freedom.

Consider paying your taxes like buying life insurance. Spreading the risk. If something happens to you, we got you. But if something happens to me, you gotta have my back too. And just because you are richer than most people does not mean you can opt out of the deal, cheap fuckers. You should pay a little more to take care of the poor, cheap fuckers.

You Republicans have lost your way.

I don't think the majority is going to vote for the GOP nominee if there's no bone thrown to them. I could see it if Rand were the VP, but I can't see it otherwise. Certainly a good number of them will, but I don't see a majority.

They want Ron Paul supporters support just like Obama wants the gays to support him. Ron Paul got 8% compared to Mitt, Newt and Santorum getting 30% each. Ron Paul is not that important. And his supporters will fall in line because Obama's a socialist, right? All your side cares about is that they are fired up in November.

Ron Paul you got your supporters rilled up?

Sarah Palin, do you have your supporters riled up and ready to vote?

Rush backers? Cain? Mormons? Jews? Racists? Anti abortionists? Rich people? How about Michelle Bachmann fans or Rick Perry?

The GOP just want you all to fall in line in November and vote for Romney, like it or not.

I just heard Santorum won Alabama. I hope that makes the GOP process go on a little longer. This is great comedy.
