It is very possible that Romney paid nothing in taxes in 2009, and that's probably what he's hiding.

Because at that point, all of his income was in investments, and the stock market took a dump, he probably earned nothing in dividends or earnings, and was able to go to the IRS with a completely straight face and said, "Hey, I took capital losses this year, I had to liquidate some of my assets to make sure we finished that Car Elevator and kept our Dressage Horsies in a warm barn... think of the Dressage Horsies!!!"

There are other reasons he might now want to release them.

1) He doesnt' want to remind everyone how much money he gives to the Mormon Church. He's really trying to not discuss Mormonism at all...

2) He may have moved his stuff out of Swiss bank accounts when UBS settled with the federal government.

3) Or he might just be an arrogant prick who doesn't think the rules apply to him. Rules ironically, his father established.
