The drummer for Derek and the Dominos wrote & played the famous piano coda on "Layla" (but didn't credit girlfriend Rita Coolidge). He also played w/ Joe Cocker & Delaney & Bonnie. A schizophrenic, he murdered his mother & had been incarcerated since 1984.

The murder part was very bad, to be sure, but before that, I loved his work on Steely Dan's "Pretzel Logic."
