My guess not as many people as they projected will ever use the bullet train. I used to live in Southern California. The traffic is terrible on the freeways but, they are in love with their cars nonetheles.

Which two ships? Provide a link to that claim please. As far as the "bullet train", which is a farce as it will be travelling on standard rail so limited in it's overall speed. It is following the route of State Hwy 99 which is STUPID! That adds to the cost because of all the valuable farmland that has to be bought for right of way, and the area has the most traffic in the central valley. Had they actually followed the I-5 route they would have lowered the cost and it would be much faster.
They want to start it in Palmdale. Which is 75 miles away from LA. So you have to drive to Palmdale, then board the train, then get off in San Fran, maybe. Currently the plan only go's so far as Gilroy which is 80 miles from San Fran. In other words it is a farce. A complete waste of money that will do nothing but line the pockets of the politicians who are pushing this fraudulent project on the taxpayers of california.
