Reviews of Fahrenheit 9/11

To describe this film as dishonest and demagogic would almost be to promote those terms to the level of respectability. To describe this film as a piece of crap would be to run the risk of a discourse that would never again rise above the excremental. To describe it as an exercise in facile crowd-pleasing would be too obvious. Fahrenheit 9/11 is a sinister exercise in moral frivolity, crudely disguised as an exercise in seriousness. It is also a spectacle of abject political cowardice masking itself as a demonstration of "dissenting" bravery.

Thanks for the quote. Some thing other than the obvious has been bothering me about this movie and your quote crystalized it for me. This "film" took no risks whatsoever. Pure cowardice.

So, Certain facts speak for themselves (no matter what political offiliation you have)!

If the Governor of Florida is a relative of Pres. Bush and the person in charge of vote-counting is a relative of Bush, and the head of Fox news is a member of groups like the Council on Foreign Relations and the Bilderburgers (eg. related to Bush in as many words)

AND...

Bush wins Florida without actually having the votes (and Fox announces it) then something is wrong. Sure his family simply played the politics game better (and got $1.4 Billion from the Saudi's as well...) so he gets to play President.

That's America, stand proud and say we took what we could and gave nothin back!

I liked the movie; it gave (mostly) unbiased, honest facts about America's current government officials. From the Bush/Bin Laden many, many year lucrative connection, to the obvious Cheney/Halliburton connection. Also pointed out a few things like the Saudis made 237 Million dollars on the day Iraq was attacked due to being majority stock holder of the company that manufactures Bradley fighting vehicles/tanks.

Enjoy the movie! Everyone on earth should see it! If for nothing else to see some plain facts and see how you personally want to deal with that knowledge.

Sounds pretty close to what BJ Clinton said about Monica...

Glad you like the movie.

I know... I've got a few jabs comin' my way after that but I'd rather be (mostly) upfront with I think.

Saying that the file was mostly unbiased has to be the most ludicrous statement ever posted on this board.

I gotta tell this story:

A couple of guys I know wanted me to go see this with them.

They kept razzing me about how I have no reason not to see it while they promoted how cool, right, and honest Moore is. (insert BARF smiley here....)

These socialists proceeded to razz me about having issues with Bush and yet just being stupid about not wanting to get the REAL info. -So one decides to ask me:

IF I gave you $10,000 would you see it?

My reply: NO.

100,000?

NO.

1,000,000?

NO.

Now they are laughing at me calling me an idiot.

1 billion dollars!?!?!?

NO!

Them: WHY?

Me:

Because #1, I know quite simply who and what he is about. I also know his opinions and some of the statements in the film. I know at least SOME of his "facts" are non-backable opinions based on guesses with ZERO foundation. A whole pack of foggy assumptions does not equal truth.

#2, I DON'T COMPROMISE MY MIND by opening it up to such sewage so repeatedly as to start to BELIEVE IT.

------

I shut them up, but their opinion of me remains lower.

I don't care.

Let them watch their 6 hrs of tv everyday while their beta waves are manipulated into relaxation causing an openness to suggestion.

Let them claim "world view" is what determines moral standards and that everyone can have their own because the thought of an objective RIGHT and WRONG is "unfair" and impossible to determine.

Let them think Moore is cool and correct.

These guys are in for a GNASHING OF TEETH.

I saw the movie and I could not believe the crowds! All the shows were sold out and my husband and I had to wait in a line that started inside and wound up outside for about 30 mins. They even put the movie in two seperate theaters for the same time because of how many people were there. I don't think I have ever seen the Esplanade that packed before.

I thought the movie was pretty good, but not shocking or surprising like some critics said it was. I guess, primarily because most of the stuff I already knew or heard about. But it was still good and provided some info, footage or what have you, that I hadn't been aware of.

Even NPR admits it's a load of doctored, biased, half-truth propoganda. I told my friends that I might see it if I had some incentive, but there was no way that any of MY money would find its way into Michael Moore's pocket. It's a shame, really. I heard "Bowling for Columbine" was worth seeing, but I refuse to support Michael Moore.

I think his first movie, "Roger & Me" was better than "Bowling". The whole sequence at the end with Charleton Heston was just uncomfortable to watch and then it got really really sappy when he brought out the picture.

His TV show, "The Awful Truth" was better than both of them, too.

Even NPR admits it's a load of doctored, biased, half-truth propoganda.

No doubt it's skewed and biased, but I wouldn't call Moore's work propaganda. He's pretty open about his bias and his intentions, especially with F9/11, and propaganda usually implies there's some sort of hidden agenda in what is being presented.

I've been through the Michael Moore debates on here before, when "Bowling" first came out, so I won't rehash that. All I'll say is that it's funny that people get so upset over him. He's a self-confessed rabble-rouser, he does and says enough attention-getting things simply to get his opinion out there.

And, elsewhere, someone stated he is not doing it for money at all, which I disagree with. Everybody in any profession is 'doing it for the money' to a certain extent. In the book "Spike, Mike, Slackers, and Dykes", John Pierson recounts how Moore was offered $500,000 for "Roger and Me", a film whose only supposed purpose was to expose the crimes of GM head Roger Smith. Moore refused the $500,000, even though it guaranteed release from a major studio and would make him something like 200X what the movie cost. Moore eventually held out and got $3 million. He's in it for the money. It's human nature, especially American human nature (though I guess most people here would question whether Michael Moore could be considered 'American' or 'human').

I want to see F9/11, but the closest place it's playing near me is about an hour away, so I'll probably wait until video. I don't watch his movies thinking it's a documentary, I just watch it thinking of it as fiction, and to that extent, they are usually very moving.

HELP!!

Where oh where are the Alfred Hitchcocks!! We want real directors with real writing and real skills!!

Whatever happened to talent? What did Hollywood do with the great ones of yesturday? They buried them and replaced them with robotic like wannabes...who would never EVER have the talent, skill, charm and intelegence to equal those from yesturyear.

Waste your money if you will oh stupid Americans (according to Michael Moore that is what you are - stupid)....but you are only filling his pockets with your hard earned money...

Me?

I have better things to do...and until the day Hollywood has a return of a brain cell, I may, just may spend money on a movie.

Its all about brainwashing..Hollywood has a way about forcing their policital issues on the public and while some can weigh the differences, others are mezmerized and taken in by it...I have met a few people that think anything from Hollywood is equal to a bibical word.

Anyway, didn't Michael Moore say Americans (all) were stupid? Perhaps he was refering to the people he is trying to sway to think his way...and by the way that is the point of this movie. He was quoted as saying (I read it in the Boston Herald or one of the Boston papers today) that he is trying to convince Americans to think his way...what does that say about him? Worse, what does it say about anyone who listens and follows?

Hmmm...reminds me of a George Orwell story.
