So 20 years ago, there is a car crash in which two people were killed. One of the victims in the car crash was so badly mangled about the face he could not be identified. Apparently, he had no ID. I guess he would not be able to vote nowadays...

Anyway, he had on a Grateful Dead T-shirt and so he was dubbed "Grateful Doe".

No one came forward to claim the body, and so the identity of this 18 year old has been a mystery for 20 years. Then someone recently posted a facial reconstruction of "Grateful Doe" on the internet and someone who had been a friend of his identified him. The police were then able to verify through DNA.

So here's the thing.

His parents never filed a missing person's report.

"Police said Callahan's family never filed a missing person's report because they were unsure which jurisdiction to file it with and assumed he had gone off on his own."

You did know which jurisdiction to file the report? You couldn't...you know...ASK!?!?!

You assumed "he had gone off on his own"? For 20 years? Without calling?

How fucked up a parent do you have to be that your kid would leave for 20 years and never call? A kid would have to be pretty pissed at his parents, and they would have to believe he had reason to be that pissed.
