If one man can damage the reputation of the Republican party for decades as you say then the Democratic Party shouldn't have a shred of respect for at least another millennia.

And between 1860 and 1932, they only held the White house for 16 of those 72 years. Deservedly so. when they got on the right side of civil rights, they did better. It helped that the GOP made the Wrong decisions on those issues afer 1964.

Seriously. The defenders of slavery and Jim Crow switch to the champions of Civil Rights in less than a decade because they got a conscience? I'm not buying it. What really happened was the Democratic Party realized that if they continued to think of minorities as second class citizens they would never win another national election so they changed their message. LBJ voted against every Civil rights bill until 1964.

I don't think I have the time or patience to unspool the whole history of the 20th century for you.

BUT- Democrats taking the lead on civil rights happened long before LBJ.

Please inform me of which decisions the Republican Party has made that was wrong.

1) Barry Goldwater oppsoing the 1964 civil rights act.
2) Nixon employing the Southern Strategy
3) Reagan talking bout "Welfare Queens" and "Young Bucks"
4) Bush the Elder employing the "Willie Horton" scare campaign
5) Nominating Trump.

There's more, of course, but that's the broad brushes of how the GOP has alienated minorities in this country.
