Republicans consider moving Jim Jordan to House Intelligence Committee

As the impeachment inquiry enters its public phase, top Republicans in the House are weighing whether to temporarily assign Representative Jim Jordan of Ohio to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the panel that will conduct the initial public hearings. Discussions about adding Jordan to the committee are "active and serious," a senior Republican involved in the process told CBS News.

Jordan, currently the ranking member on the House Oversight Committee and an outspoken defender of President Trump, has essentially led Republican efforts in the closed-door impeachment proceedings thus far, where three committees have been able to participate. His top investigator, Steve Castor, has conducted the bulk of witness questioning.

If Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy were to temporarily assign Jordan to the Intelligence Committee, he would have to make room for him by removing a current member. The move would also undermine Devin Nunes, the committee's top Republican. McCarthy has sole discretion over Intelligence Committee assignments.

An emerging defense of Trump by Trump Republicans is they will admit the obvious, but they are being coy about it. Some are saying that, yes, it is true, Trump did ask the Ukrainian President to investigate the Bidens, but that is not an impeachable offense.

That is like saying, yes, it is true, my friend did withdraw money from the bank, omitting the fact that the man's friend robbed the bank.

Similarly, Trump Republicans will not say that, in the wake of the 2016 election, Russian interference in our election on behalf of Trump, and the Mueller Report, that Trump requested foreign interference in our Presidential election on his behalf.

Nor will they admit that Trump's own chief of staff told a television audience that Trump used quid pro quo to get what he wanted. That amounts to bribery, an impeachable offense in its own right.

Trump Republicans may try to get this by American voters, but, when the impeachment inquiry goes public, Americans will learn the truth. Following the 2016 election and foreign interference in that election, it is extremely doubtful Americans will accept that as business as usual in 2020.

There is no wonder why Trump will not allow his people to testify to all this. Thus, his obstruction of Congress and the game of delay. It is the only thing he can do.

Don't worry.....they don't have to make up the fake Ukraine hoax......they already have the Russian Steele Dossier they can use to impeach him....er......ummm....or something....

You guys....are going to look so stupid when the Trump Boomerang hits you square in the face...

Whatever happened to Bob Mueller? Stardom is certainly fleeting among the Democrats.

For that matter, is Cindy Sheehan still alive? Blasey-Ford?

Same thing for the anti-gun kid whose name I can't remember, and the crazy global warming girl, whose name I also can't remember.

It's like they were never here.

Whatever happened to Bob Mueller?
Well, he completed this investigation this one time. You might have heard of it. Right now, the Trump lackeys in the DOJ are making their last ditch effort to keep Mueller's evidence and interviews out of Congressional hands. It's not going to work. Then, your wish of hearing Mueller's name on yer teevee again will be fulfilled. Thanks for asking!

You would be lying yet again. The senile Mueller did not know what was in “his” report. Grand jury testimony’s will NOT be released. Period. And you will cry, as you do every day. As you will for the next 4 years. All that time, money, subpoenas, witnesses, and the senile dope got NOTHING. Not even a lousy copy of the home game.

Quid Pro Quo

an exchange of goods or services,
in which one transfer is contingent upon the other;

If Trump is guilty of bribery, so is Joe

Senator Lindsey Graham, one of Trump's staunchest supporters, appears to be confused. His latest defense of Trump is that Trump's Ukraine policy is "incoherent." No kidding, that is what he said.

"What I can tell you about the Trump policy toward Ukraine: It was incoherent, it depends on who you talk to, they seem to be incapable of forming a quid pro quo," Graham said.

Graham told reporters that he would not be reading newly released deposition transcripts, calling the Democratic-led impeachment probe a “bunch of BS."

Graham told us that he hopes the President will be able to call his own witnesses. Assuming it would be the White House staff who would support Trump on the witness stand, apparently Graham doesn't know that it is the President who is stonewalling White House staff from testifying.

When Fox News host Martha MacCallum asked Graham about Sondland's testimony, Graham contrived a conspiracy accusing Sondland of switching up his testimony because of a “connection” with Democratic operatives.

“Why did [Sondland] change his testimony?” Graham said. “Was there a connection between [Sondland] and Democratic operatives on the committee? Did he talk to Schiff? Did he talk to Schiff’s staffers?”

Graham didn't even know the name of the witness. He kept referring to Gordon Sondland as “Sunderland.”

It is clear that Graham is losing it, and the Senator has no idea what is going on. Was he sober when he said that? This conspiracy is beyond comprehension.
Sondland is, after all, a Trump-appointed ambassador, a poltical appointee, not an experienced envoy. He is also a Republican mega-donor who reportedly contributed $1 million to Trump’s inaugural committee.

This is the same ambassador whom Trump recently described as “a really good man” and a “great American.”

And yet, we’re now supposed to believe that Sondland may be in league with House Democrats?

Well, according to Graham, that is a possibility. Actually, Sondland revised his testimony because his lawyer told him that perjury in a Congressional hearing is a federal crime punishable by imprisonment. In his previous testimony, Sondland lied to protect Trump.

Graham is the perfect example of the confusion and the problems Trump Republicans have trying desperately to come up with some angle to defend Trump. As Graham illustrates, it is a losing endeavor.

Yes, we know. Executive privilege is an impeachable offense according to the commies.

Quid Pro Quo's are not an impeachable offense, even if Trump used it which he did not. Other Presidents have, and it's within their authority to do so. Nobody outside of our country needs to "be asked" to interfere or disturb our elections, especially by a candidate who was predicted to lose the election anyhow. You leftists think that Putin was sitting at his desk, and when Trump made the joke (that you humorless leftists didn't get) is all he needed to put some stupid ads on Facebook that few seen, and even more didn't pay attention to?

Yes, Americans will learn the truth: how corrupt and power hunger the Democrats are. They are going to try and impeach a President based on what she heard from what another heard from another. Or based on other people's opinions. Right.....an impeachment process using opinions and third hand information, but the Democrats are not corrupt.

If that is so, they couldn't have picked a better man. Jordan is the pride of our state, and I hope to see him running for President some day.

Gym Jordan to the intelligence committee?

Doesn't he have to prove that he has some first.
