1. Medicare will be insolvent in 2017 w/o reform.
2. SS will be insolvent in 2037 w/o reform.
None of the DC whores want to actually do anything because the other party would crucify them. This need to be resolved by a bi-partisan commission, like the Debt Commission.
Raise the retirement age; it's quite simple. Very few like this idea because on the far right, they just want to dismantle anything that the government runs, even if it's to their own detriment. On the left, nobody wants to raise the retirement age because they see it as being unfair to lower income earners who work in more physical jobs.
The fact is that both SS and Medicare are very good programs. However, they were not meant to pay people for nearly 15 years on average. Look at it this way, if all of a sudden life expectancy jumps to 90 years, are we still going to expect that people retire at 65 and that SS and Medicare will support them for 30 years? Well, that is exactly what we have done to this point, only it is not at 15 years.
Besides raising the retirement age, Medicare funding needs to be increased immediately. That means raising the payroll rate for Medicare. Whatever the rate is should be absorbed 100% by the employee.
You know what is even more simple? Actually force the the federal government to adhere to the ultimate law of the land - the US Constitution. In that single step, we would shrink this monstrosity by 80%, end the bankrupting Cuba Socialist programs, and actually secure our borders saving us hundres of billions in criminal actions and support (healthcare, education, etc.) for illegal aliens. If the federal government were forced to actually adhere to the Constitution as they are supposed to, we could probably pay off our entire debt in 3 years. Problem solved.
Its tough to say the middle class is the backbone of the U S when we no longer make anyting. I guess you could say the Wal Mart employees and casino workers might be middle class.
I have a neighbor who is in debt up to his eyeballs. He has payments on everything including his T V , Stereo, home, three cars, etc. He is taking out a second on his home and applying for more credit cards in order to pay his bills. I told him the best way to handle it is to borrow all he can in order to right the sinking ship. Would any of you loan money to this neighbor? The higher ups in government have given him the solution.

That's not the aim of Republicans. They signed the Grover Norquist "pledge". That's what they swear fealty too.
Pop Quiz.
How does the government generate revenue according to the Constitution of the United States?

How does the government generate revenue according to the Constitution of the United States?
Through taxes. What's your point?
Pop Quiz.
How do liberals abuse that part of the Constitution? Let me count the ways.
By believing that part allows for Communism - giving the federal government the right to confiscate 100% of a persons wealth and redistribute it as they see fit
After claiming there would be no new taxes, once Obamacare was founded to be unconstitutional in a court of law, Obama tried to circumvent our laws again (and prove he believes he is a dictator who can do what ever he wants without exception) by claiming Obamacare was simpy a "tax" and since the Consitution grants him the federal government the power to tax, it was constitutional. Oops....
By believing they can recklessly spend the country into $14 trillion in debt because they have the right to confiscate the bank account of all American's any time they want.
Should I continue?

Lets start with this point.
When in the History of America..has that happened?

As in.."Millionaire John Doe after successfully managing his Sproket Company for 20 years, following all the laws, regulations and rules of the American Government, found all his wealth confiscated and given out to the community."
Big O got cut out of the debt talks picture... Took the gop long enough to realize he wasn't playing for real, but instead he was playing for votes.

maryland has the best public schools with the highest rated students, and is unionized, texass is not unionized and places way down the list.
What makes you think the teachers in Texas are not unionized?
Welcome to TSTA
my cousin is a football coach at a jr high in Texass, and his wife is a biology teacher, I ask him about the republicans demonizing teachers and how it felt to be a horrible unionized public employee, and he said they are not in the union.. My friend is a basketball coach in Oklahoma I do think they are unionized.
