Republican response to SOTU

I just read McDonnell's response and I'm confident that the 2010 election will see a record numbers of House seats lost by the Dems and may hit 100.

And you came to this conclusion based on McDonnell reitering Republican talking points? Are your eyes partisan, too?

i'm sorry, perhaps you weren't reading along with the SOTU thread... that was for the benefit of the wingnuts.

if i had known there was sentient life out there, i might have approached it differently

and right there you nailed it....even obama took the piss out of the gop on national tv....there are lots of people out there that will help but not if you keep insulting them....

but you know all this and are just having a bit of fun....

obama was both inspiring and sad....he did nothing to get the gop to join him...he laid the groundwork to use them as an excuse to explain why the dem congress didn't do shit for three years and won't be able to pull together now...and when they lose more seats this november they will be able to blame the gop....

unless they spend the next 11 months banging the "gop blocked us" drum and if you just give me another chance we can change things....

i can just see the adds now....

He can never do anything to get the GOP to join him. He did get it out there that they are the party of no and if I remember correctly, he mentioned obstruction.

I think he did a good job of defining what happened last year and what he expects from congress going forward, He looked like a leader, whether Rs decide to take his advice is up to them but lately, Obama has been taking his message on the road. He's pretty good at that.

This isn't going to be a Democratic compromise, Repubs need to listen and learn.

Why would the GOP "join him" in socialist redistribution? :eusa_eh:
Of course they're going to "obstruct" Marxists. We call them "RINO" and campaign against them when they don't.

Obama's expectation that we're all just going to roll over and embrace his insane platform is utterly unrealistic. It's against everything we stand for. We don't WANT our elected representatives "compromising" on the uncompromisable. Does he really think we're going to suddenly turn our backs on our beliefs in Limited Government and Constitutional Law? Seriously. Think about it.

He struck a combative tone last night simply as raw meat for his lefty base. You obviously enjoyed hearing him lecture Congressional Republicans and our Supreme Court as if he were their daddy and they were recalcitrant children. And THAT was why he did it. :eusa_shhh:
It certainly wasn't to make inroads on solving legislative problems.

He had two choices... he could either double-down and please his moonbat base or he could move to the center. And he chose WRONG... again.

At the bottom line, he's in office now because of Independents. So are most of our CongressCritters. He can't be reelected and neither can they without carrying the center. But instead of worrying about that... he's worried that MoveOn.org and George Soros might not carry water for him, never realizing that he, himself, becomes the "water boy" with this decision.

This guy has NEVER been his own man. And thus, he's incapable of true "leadership". He seems to think he can make silly demands, and people will fall right in line behind him. Wrong. True leaders persuade people to follow them. They're successful because their logic is inescapable and because they see where compromise is actually available and then take advantage of it.

Barack Obama though that merely being elected was enough to make him a "leader". It's not. It's the ACT of "leading" which makes someone a "leader". Demands and insults don't confer legitimacy. This asshole forgets that when he's rude to MY representative... he's rude to ME. Worse, he's so entrenched in his own Socialist ideology, so insistent in having it his own way, that's he's completely blind to the areas in which legislative compromise IS possible.

In November, we're going to take his toys away from him. And in 2012, we're going to PUNT him from the Oval Office. His "audacity" turned out to be unwarranted arrogance. His "hope" is nothing but rank pessimism. And his "change" is Socialism. He stands uncompromisingly for MORE of everything we already hated about Washington.

Enjoy your red meat. It's going to have to last you for awhile.

I already read it. WHat would you like to discuss Frank?

I already read it. WHat would you like to discuss Frank?

"Republicans in Congress have offered legislation to reform healthcare, without shifting Medicaid costs to the states, without cutting Medicare, and without raising your taxes."

Um, that's not what Obama said.

What about this, do you not understand? The "change" that the Republicans have offered does not come close to what Obama wants nor what he campaigned to provide. The people of America elected Obama AND his ideas. The Republicans have offered a "plan" that does not allow him to attain these lofty goals. Hence, Obama's remarks. Come on Frank. I KNOW you understand this stuff.

Never mind. I THOUGHT you were smarter than this.....my bad.

First, if Obama the Candidate met Obama the President, they wouldn't even recognize each other! The Candidate was a fiscally conservative, clean and articulate political moderate. Obama's the President spring-boarded into leftist lunatic fringe as soon as he put his hand on the Bible/Koran and the electorate had voted totally, massively against him every chance they get.

But please, continue not to notice, please keep believing that the country actually supports what the Socialist President and Dem leadership thinks we're too stupid to support.

Obama didn't say anything about "individual mandates" during the campaign. He didn't say anything about a government takeover of private insurance companies. Nothing about a complete overhaul of our healthcare system. He DISAGREED with Hillary about forcing citizens to buy an insurance product. He said he was going to make sure that people who didn't have insurance had access to the same plans Congress has.

This misconception that Obama's disastrous policies had a rubber-stamp "mandate" from the American people is the very thing that BLINDS him to reality. His "mandate" was for cleaning up Washington, changing "the way Washington does business", post-partisan, post-racial governance.

This guy has missed the forest for the trees. And CONTINUES to do so.

How does spending $850 Billion, 1/3 of the annual budget for phony "Stimulus" (still waiting for that majikal 'jobs save or created' number) square away with "going through the budget with a fine toothed comb", you know, the lie he campaigned on to make people believe he's a fiscal Conservative?

I openly AGREE that the numbers for jobs "saved or created" seem to be made up daily, if not hourly, and I am not confident in any of the figures I have heard so far. However, didn't the GOP in Congress just this week, help to defeat a commission that was going to tackle the defecit? Who's really to blame here for not getting this done?

Unfortunately, there will probably be blood in the streets before either of the Parties get serious about tackling the deficit.

I agree with this comment. Is this your way of backing off from your partisan claim that it is ALL Obama's fault?

No need to get pedantic in your refutation of my commentary or anything.
A rousing "Nuh-uh!" would suffice.

Wait a second, I never said it was ALL Obama's fault. Bush & Delay had a historic opportunity to do something effective and they screwed the pooch- doggy style
