I criticize people who can help themselves....
... But they stay under the income level to continue being on the dole. ....
Like you're doing now?
People don't realize it, but in spite of laws, age and medical discrimination take place.
They are virtually worthless because it's almost impossible to prove, especially when everything is done online today.
I worked for one guy years ago (he was Jewish so I know you'll get a kick out of this) who avoided hiring single young women. His fear was they will be having families soon, and their absence from work would be very disruptive. Plus he was concerned about the cost of child birth and what that would do to his medical insurance costs. He hired a few, but most of the office workers were woman with several children, and many of them middle-aged.
I've been looking around for a new job the last several years. In spite of my outstanding record, few wold even respond to my reply. So what are my chances of getting a job in an entirely new field of work at this age even with training? And if I could find somebody to hire me at this age, how long would I be working for them, a year or so?
Really? So what happened to all the money I put in?
I used to deliver to the inner-city at times. The streets are loaded with younger and middle-aged people during normal working hours. Yes, many of them do stay on welfare their entire life; maybe not that particular program, but other programs as well. Do they work? Yes, some do. But they stay under the income level to continue being on the dole. I've seen it several times with customers of ours who hire temps. How long have I been talking about my HUD neighbors? Yes, they are still here, and will probably be on HUD the rest of their lives.
I don't consider a bunch of bureaucrats as experts on road safety. When they took the decision for me to work away from my doctor, that's when the trouble started. From there they kept adding more and more red tape until it got to the point I'm at now. If my job were still open and I was able to go back, I'd be at work tomorrow morning instead of home.
... But they stay under the income level to continue being on the dole. ....

I'm not doing anything now but waiting.
Yep, and when government starts giving you that disability check, then they really watch you like a hawk to ensure that you do NOTHING to defraud them by working. Isn't it just amazing the way the whole thing is set up ? It dis-insentivizes the situation that would help a person to maybe find their way back into the workforces. And that's exactly what I'm doing.
Collecting welfare from the hated government is not exactly picking yourself up, bud.
I'm using any and all resources I have for survival. It's not welfare when you pay into a system your entire life. This is your precious safety net system, the one you adore so much. Yet when somebody uses it that really needs it through no fault of their own, all of a sudden, you're against it. You are only for it when welfare queens get on them and stay on them the rest of their lives popping out kid after kid. That you have no problem with.
I didn't choose to be put out of a job and career, government made that choice for me. I will not choose to be put on disability, government will make that choice for me. Don't complain about me when government keeps setting me back. I've been fighting for the last couple of years to work, now they defeated me. There is little I can do at this point.
With the rest of the welfare queens.

What does a Drivers License have to do with immigration?
It just makes sure drivers have the proper skills and training?
So many rebuttals to your utopic fantasy world lived in, but so little time. Good grief.People don't realize it, but in spite of laws, age and medical discrimination take place.
Yes, it does. The reason why I'm liberal today is my Romney-loving boss said that he felt I was to old to retrain, then boasted about how he "didn't have to deal with a union".
They are virtually worthless because it's almost impossible to prove, especially when everything is done online today.
That's what you get for getting rid of unions and encouraging right to work, at-will employment and all the other Employer Friendly things out there. Hoist on your own petard, my boy!

Not sure why I'd get a kick out of him being Jewish... I've found the worst employers I've had were Christians. The best were non-Americans. So there's that. But again, when you guys spent years gutting worker protection laws, why are you surprised.

Again, find yourself a good resume writer and career coach. It actually takes work and a positive attitude. I've helped women who've been out of the workplace for years, guys with convictions, people with disabilities...
Are you going to get a job paying exactly what you were? Probably not. Still better than disability? Yup.
Really? So what happened to all the money I put in?
Went to other retirees and people with disabilities.

I'm not sure how you could know someone's whole life story observing them while passing buy in a truck. You can go with your anecdotes, I have to go with the statistics. Most are off in 36 months.
Again, and these are "Poor People" welfare programs, the bottom of the Safety Net. We spend a lot more on Middle Class Entitlements - Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment insurance, Veteran's benefits.
We're all against the socialism the other guy gets.

It sounds to me like they were trying to make accomedations for you as long as they could. I wouldn't look at an 18 wheeler behind me on the Eisenhower and want to think, "Is that guy on Eight medications, or only seven?"
Yes, but as I said earlier, it still dis-insentivizes people to be all that they can be for their nation, otherwise regardless of this subsidizing their income at a late age in life, in which should be given them with no restrictions added if earned that income subsidy over their lifetime of service to their country. Ok so it starts at this amount given, and progresses forward like having a trickle trust fund, but no work restrictions should be in play.Yep, and when government starts giving you that disability check, then they really watch you like a hawk to ensure that you do NOTHING to defraud them by working. It doesn't work like that. One of my tenants is on disability, and he works. Like with regular Social Security, they gave him a limit of $1,300 a month gross. Not much, but it helps him out. Plus the guy never leaves his house, so I was happy when he did get the job.

Easy, if you make it easier in America for illegals to operate, then they have no reason to become legal citizens...Just because you give illegals DL's doesn't mean that they are educated on how to drive in America, nor does it mean that they carry the proper insurance....My daughter found that out when two illegals hit her car, and even though they were responsible, she had to take care of her damage because they didn't carry insurance...
It's not the one on several different meds that would scare me, but rather it's the one on no meds while having those hidden problems that scare me. That is being or has been taken care of in the new deal, so although there is lots more drivers being delt with, it's getting better and better. Ray's age and long term service to his country should have him on easy Street now in regards to what's owed him for his services. It's all these new generational characters attempting to scam the system or have been scamming the system for years that creates the rub for those who have paid their dues.
The only ones I see crying are those who have a disrespect for those like Ray, and it's all because of politics or political biases instead of what's right in regards to ones service regardless of ones politics or political leans in life.

Yeah, right, with the rest of the welfare queens. That's what I'm up to, so suck it up buttercup. I'll be thinking about you when you go to work in the morning. How do you like them apples?
I've said, I feel bad for Ray's situation. But you know what, he's not crippled. He's white and Male and intelligent enough to do customer service or data entry.
Why should Ray be entitled to anything more than what his employer paid him? Sorry, driving a truck is not "Service to the country".
The only difference between Ray and other people is he's white and there for "entitled". That's it. The funny thing is, you guys have no problem with white, middle class entitlements, but the pittance we spend on welfare... well, we just can't have that!
I've said, I feel bad for Ray's situation. But you know what, he's not crippled. He's white and Male and intelligent enough to do customer service or data entry.
, I know people on disability that do work. It's acceptable by Social Security.
....
Now wait a minute Ray, what happened to I worked all my life, so I deserve it or where did my money go says you ???? Come on Ray, quit contradicting yourself in these post.Yes, but as I said earlier, it still dis-insentivizes people to be all that they can be for their nation, otherwise regardless of this subsidizing their income at a late age in life, in which should be given them with no restrictions added if earned that income subsidy over their lifetime of service to their country. If there were no restriction, then people who could would be working 50 hours a week and collecting at the same time. If you can work 50 hours a week, chances are you are not that disabled.
He works at Giant Eagle grocery store. I don't know if they have them where you live, but it's the biggest outfit here. They are always bugging him to work more hours. He simply told them that he couldn't. For one, he can only work so long, and two, it would be like working for free since anything over his limit would be deducted from his disability check.
After he got the job, they cut his Medicare subsidies even though he's within the earning limit. The screwed up thinking is that you cannot have an income during the application process, but once accepted, they allow you to work within the limits. You have to be careful when you apply.
One of my coworkers told me not to try and collect unemployment. That's what his sister-in-law did, and she was refused disability because you honestly have to be seeking work to collect unemployment. Their conclusion is that if she was collecting, she had to be looking for a job, and therefore, was able to work.
