Europe is failing.

How do you come to that conclusion?

It's a lie because it's based on a misinterpretation of human nature, that people will work hard without personal benefit. But we all know its just a way of getting control.

Human nature is very flexible and cooperation preceded competition. Socialism is about cooperation to ensure that everyone benefits. So it too is driven by self-interest.

The socialist mantra" To each according to need, from each according to ability", relies on a totalitarian hegemonic entity to make all these decisions for everyone's life.

I think that's from Marx, from memory and socialism is much more complex than a one-liner but at the heart of it is the idea that the means of production and distribution should be socially owned and not owned by individuals. Hardly a threat to the world as we know it. No doubt about the failure of command planning in an economy though, there's a need for market forces there for sure. That's why socialist theory adapted itself and isn't locked into the utopian ideas of its origins.

He won't go where the communist totalitarian argument really leads:"But people on the edge of starvation work very hard for a crust of bread".

Was that directed at me? If it was then put your point to me and I'll see if I can counter it. If it's just thinking out loud then you need to know that you typed your thoughts out on the keyboard.

The hidden secret of leftist motivation is keeping people on the edge of starvation. Diuretic, is this accurate?

I sincerely hope not. Where did you get that from? I'm interested to know because I've never heard that before.

It's the tyrant's secret. Socialism is nothing more than tyranny dressed up like a two bit hooker.

Slogans aren't much of a substitute for a solid point. If you have one I'd like to hear it.

Tyrants have always known keeping people on the edge of starvation keeps them controllable and motivated. Socialism is just tyranny. WHy are you having so much trouble?

Actually people on the edge of starvation can get quite unruly. Regimes have been overturned because of it - does the phrase, "let them eat cake" ring a bell? Tyrants rely on many things to keep people controllable. Secret police, informers everywhere, repressive laws which allow government intrusion into every part of a person's life without just cause and the threat of imprisonment or execution for speaking up against them. But starvation, no, starvation causes problems. Once you have nothing to lose you may as well let rip. The Roman Emperors knew it, they ensured bread (and circuses) for the masses so the masses wouldn't revolt against them.

No, socialism is a social and economic theory, it's actually the anthesis of tyranny.

Yes, Socialism is tyranny. And keeping people relatively needy, keeps them under control.

I'll finish up on this now because this is getting repetitious. Thanks for the discussion.

Yes. You're quite boring, now that you bring it up.

No need to get upset, it's just a discussion board. I merely pointed out that you had nothing left, that you were recycling your claims. I thought that it would end there. And it did.

Keeping people too weak, poor and hungry to rebel has been used for centuries as a control mechanism. Sorry you're ignorant of this fact.
