Reid triggers ‘nuclear option’ to change rules, prohibit filibusters ( Dem Dictators

eh... I hate Reid but the filibuster has been abused by both parties for the last 100 yrs with increasing abuse over the last few years

Filibuster yes, but a corrupt nuclear option "As the Democrats represent it now" no. I agree, dont give them shit for the rest of Obamas term unless it is constitutional and fiscally responsible. Let them pay for their treason at the polls in 2012.

I agree with Reid. These procedural tactics have been abused too much.

Reid’s move strips the minority of the power of forcing politically-charged procedural votes after the Senate has voted to cut off a potential filibuster and move to a final vote, which the Senate did on the China measure Tuesday morning, 62-38.

Reid said motions to suspend the rules after the Senate votes to end debate — motions which do not need unanimous consent — are tantamount to a renewed filibuster after a cloture vote.

Reid's

then let them choose some future time, say 6 years from now so no one knows who will be in power to end them, doing it now, or when the reps have power is unfair.

The dems are cutting thier own throat. They'll only have the Senate for another 14 months, then they'll be screaming when it is used against them.

Won't happen, you see the uprisings around the country now? With ignorant unemployed robots and welfare bums, coupled with the unions to organize it all. They will suspend elections because of these fools, and not one tea party member of normal american will be present at any of it. In lamens terms, the left will create a crisis, and as knucklenuts "Rahm Emanuel" used to say, never let a crisis go to waste. We will be lucky to be able to vote in 2012, the communists have gotten a taste of having it their way, and will not give that up easily.

The house shouldn't pass another fucking bill until the next congress. Period.

Nah, what they should do is each time the Senate sends them a bill. They should take anything in it they do like, and write there own bill, Cutting Regulations or What ever, and send that back to the Senate.

That way they didn't just say no, they said no not that way, lets do this.

I think that everytime the senate sends them a bill, they should pull their pants down, take a shit, and wipe there asses with it and send it back to the senate.

So let me get this straight.

In order to get rid of yet ANOTHER fucking filibuster from the Republicans (which is being used over and over again, and starting to piss me off) someone actually takes up the reigns and DOES something in congress?

How is this a bad thing? Congress as it stands has some of the absolute bottom of the barrel approval ratings in history, and someone decides to do something about it and he's still damned?

Fuck I'm not even on the left and I find this to be refreshing.

Personally I am not against the filibuster. But there should be a limit.

It's absurd that each and every bill or appointment requires 60 votes.

they don't, hello. cloture is not a vote on a bill its a vote to forward, by pulling it off the floor and closing debate on it so the bill can go up for a vote that requires a simple majority, which reid has. Reid himself during the debt celing crisis used an even slimier tactic which belongs to the maj. ldr. by tabling his own bill.....becasue he didn't have the votes.

for instance reconciliation on BUDGET matters can pass with 51....now, guess why I capitalized BUDGET?...:eusa_whistle:

The house shouldn't pass another fucking bill until the next congress. Period.

You people aren't practical... I hate to be like the left but you should really let those who know something speak for you.

If the house doesn't pass any bills, Obama will win and all those seats that were won in surprise districts will immediately go back to democrats.

Not to mention it won't solve the problem, some of you are so ignorant and short sighted. I hate Obama but standing in defiance by offering absolutely nothing in an attempt to ruin his presidency gives the left evidence to be manipulated to fulfill every stereo type about the tea party and right. They need to come up with a plan, if they can't come up with a specific solution as how to govern they are no better than those idiots in the middle east or wall st who want to protest everything but have no plan to rule.

This would be disastrous if the house right listened to you.
You give the dems far too much credit.
Additionally, suggesting the GOP controlled House simply give in to democrat Senate demands is idiotic.
No. The GOP in the Senate needs to concentrate on Reid and drag him across the coals.
The American people don't like technicalities. This is one of those.
The democrat senators running for office next fall will have to answer for Reid's decision.
Anything that comes out of Congress is not going to be what Obama wants because everything Obama wants has a tax increase attached to it. Even Dems will not pass anything with a tax increase now.
SO Reid can play his silly game. Let him.
The GOP will take the high road. Reid will look like a vindictive politician and if no legislation is passed, Reid and the democrats will get the blame.

Just think of how sweet it would be if reid didn't have voter fraud in his favor in 2010 with the absentee ballots "Dead folks, illegals, people signing ballots two and three times". I senateless reid would have been a great benefit for America, just a shame we have to tolerate him just a few more years.

If that was the problem I might agree with him myself.

About freakin time.

Socialism and communism just can't get here fast enough for you can it? It's a pussy move, nothing less. Democrats in this senate are a bunch of whiney little bitches that when they dont get their way they have to go off the reservation to pull cheap tricks. It's okay, after 2012 we dont wanna here any left wing cock holsters running at the holster. The Democrats had 2 years all to their own to do what they wanted with, and accomplished nothing but putting this nation into more debt and causing hate and discontent among Americans, when we start bringing it back around after November 2012 I dont want to hear any bitching, because when we bring it back around, you are definatley not going to like how we do it. Some of you better enjoy those entitlement programs while you can, and blame your leadership for whats about to happen because they are the ones who over extended them and made them non sustainable. Sure, you can buy into the left wing rhetoric of "it's the bad'ol GOP's fault", but that would just make you a dumbass.

Yes, mental midgets should be able to pass whatever the hell they want to, regardless of whether the peoples representatives say yay or nay. Communism at it's finest.

There's no real responding to this. It's all piss and vinegar hyperbole.

But hopefully that lowered your blood pressure a bit.

Did you even read his post? He didn't say anything about giving in to Dems. He basically said that the GOP should DO SOMETHING other than simply say 'no' to everything. Unlike the extreme-right who would rather blow up Congress than work with Dems, he realizes that the strategy of blocking everything just to defeat Obama is not a wise move.

They have been, but everything they do the Dems say no. Problem is, everything the GOP has put forth would save this country money that would have been wasted otherwise, and they are the tough decisions that need to be made to save the Republic, but the dems are not interested in that, they just want to give give give money that we dont have to support a welfare base of citizens for votes in return. The democrats will sink this country in entitlement programs that are unsustainable, look at this shit already, every entitlement program put forth in the last 100 years by democrats are in the red. If you can think for yourself, you could surely understand why the GOP has put a halt on this shit.

Commies only have one party and don't pay taxes.

Now really. Who the heck wants that? Who's the one party no taxes folks?

Oh gosh.

That's what we've been seeing for the last 3 years. There are many unfilled positions in various departments because of this nonsense.

And since 2010, the congress has been setting records for doing nothing. 98%er Boehner is proud of the the downgrade by the S&P and a slide back into recession.

That's because bills on restricting abortion, putting up a balanced budget amendment ( a patently ridiculous idea), repealing ObamaCare and other nonsense is so much more important then fulfilling what the Republicans ran on in 2010..which was jobs, jobs, jobs.

Good job boys.

:clap2:

Because reconciliation only applies to budgetary matters - changes in the budget.

But, we have no budget, only a continuing resolution.

This isn't the nuclear option and it isn't ending the filibuster.

From the article in the original post:

Reid’s move strips the minority of the power of forcing politically-charged procedural votes after the Senate has voted to cut off a potential filibuster and move to a final vote

It prevents more blocking after a filibuster has been killed.

No it doesn't.

It prevents the minority party from presenting amendments after the cloture vote. McConnell was trying to force the Democrats to go on record on the AJA as written by Obama. Reid did not like that, so he forced a rule change that prevented them from doing so. Since the rules already prohibit the minority party from doing this endlessly, which is the position Reid took, it is nothing more than an attempt to cover the Democrats from the political fallout of taking a public position on the AJA.

You are aware that the House has passed a Budget right? That they sent all those bills to the Senate long ago where Reid simply sat on them. he refuses to even send them to committee. The failure the Republicans are doing is in not REMINDING the American people OVER and OVER that the House did it's job and the Senate refuses.

Reid triggers ‘nuclear option’ to change rules, prohibit filibusters ( Dem Dictators Take Over)
TheHill.com ^ | October 6 2011 | A.Bolton

In a shocking development Thursday evening, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) triggered a rarely used procedural option informally called the “nuclear option” to change the Senate rules.

The surprise move stunned Republicans, who did not expect Reid to bring heavy artillery to what had been a humdrum knife fight over amendments to China currency legislation.

Reid's

Its war!!! These commie bastards! The house shouldn't give them shit the rest of Obama's term! No budget or anything. Lock it down.

Oh hell son, If Reid had not done that.. then obie doodle smoodle would just issue an "executive order" and declare it is deemed to be so.. donchyaknow?
